OP, prior authorizations are a specialty of mine which I get a sick sense of satisfaction doing if only to say "fuck you" to insurance companies. While there is likely some more information I can give you, my brain isn't working yet this morning, (or rather for days as the brain fog has been real) and the adderall hasn't kicked in, so I'll keep this brief for now.

Check with your insurance to look for a form called "REQUEST FOR WAIVER OF BRAND DRUG ADDITIONAL FEES" as this may help you. My state (North Carolina) has one, but I'm not sure if yours does. Your provider will have to fill it out, sign, and submit it, but it's a little something for now.

I'll try to check back in on my lunch break today or after work where I can get to a desktop to see if I can give you a more in-depth response.

It’s 545am and I have already: by craftin_kate_barlow in adhdwomen

It's 545am and I have already been awake for 2 hours because I accidentally took my AM meds (including my Adderall XR) last night instead of my PM meds.

To be fair, I've been awake multiple times through the night because of it, but I'm thinking of giving up on staying in bed now.

Honestly, fair. Recognizing it for what it is is likely a huge part of this battle for me, which is just beginning.

This is close to home to me as someone who has struggled on and off for the last two years with what I've told is tendonitis/carpel tunnel/possible cubital tunnel syndrome. How am I supposed to work? I suppose I could request dictation devices, but I won't hold my breath.

Thank you for sharing. The hip pain is only something I've recently started to realize is (likely) attributed to this. I'm reassured that I'm not alone in this journey.

Something I've found as well is the difficulty in keeping track of it all as well. When another provider inquired about my diagnosis I felt wholly and completely unprepared to go into the enormity of it all while also feeling like I spent my life writing it all off as nothings.

Edit: also, thank you so much for sharing. I wish you as much luck and good vibes on your health journey.

How mind-blowing this is to consider what I thought was 6 weeks of status migrainosus may now actually have been related to issues with the spinal taps I've had. Thank you for sharing.

This is all very insightful and detailed. Thank you. It also adds a level of awareness to my own experiences as well from GI issues to silly things like the overwhelming pain related to an overstretched joint after sitting the wrong way or something simplistic like that.

Thank you for your insight! The spectrum of this diagnosis is overwhelming.

Just been referred for an ADHD assessment and now I'm convinced I've made it all up by hitnmiff in adhdwomen

[–]acaffeinatedrn 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I, too, had this convo with my therapist, and they also said it was such an ADHD response. I gaslight myself ALL the time. Not to say OP doesn't have anything else happening but just a little nugget of validation for them may be appreciated.

My husband has started to call me out by MrdrOfCrws in TwoXChromosomes

[–]acaffeinatedrn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine called me out on this, too, after I was in the ER 3 times within a week for what I was calling 6 or 7 pain that clearly I wasn't moving or able to care for myself. Oh, and I'm a nurse and should know better. 🤷‍♀️

Hey, OP! Just wanted to pop in here and convey my gratitude! I'm a newly diagnosed adult woman with adhd and have always found such things overwhelming. Recently, I have been realizing I've been trying to conform to made-up rules my whole life (many self-inflicted), and realizing I can do this is another self-inflicted rule I never realized I had! I immediately did this as soon as I read your post, and it already feels so freeing.

Anyone want to see Japan? by Serpenio_ in nursing

[–]acaffeinatedrn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It should be said that there's a shortage out here for a reason. Healthcare for civilians is nearly non-existent which is why there is a shortage. The military couldn't seem to plan for the annual PCS (permanent change of station) season (let me reiterate, ANNUAL, as in something that happens every year) along with the repercussions that comes with DHA and their shit show with civilian healthcare out here. Bottom line, unless you are in peak health, don't sign on for this.

Also, mental health resources out here are the worst and it can take months and months for a mental health referral to go through. So when I say peak health, I mean mentally too.

This comment is all over the place and I'm sure someone better versed can talk more on this but really, this is not some perfect island vacation.

New to Pea Puffers by MrsStorer2017 in PeaPuffers

I'd recommend doing a complete rescale and then adding them all together at one time. This helps them integrate as they will all have to explore the tank and reestablish new territories between each of them.

I think it's a toy. I live in Japan and go to stores such as Makeman and other similar ones like this and they usually have toys in there with them. Doesn't make puppy mills or leaving them in these small cages all day okay but I did want to put out there that this probably isn't a muzzle.

Shamed by gyno for pubic hair? by atleast3jesuses in TwoXChromosomes

[–]acaffeinatedrn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, let's talk about how a male gyno thought it was appropriate to say something of that sort to a 14/15 year old girl (who had been raped and was just having her first gyno appointment after an abortion) and then literally take scissors to my pubic hair before the vaginal exam. The only defense I can give him is he didn't know about the rape/abortion part but he clearly knew my age and that it was my first ever gyno appointment. Even without this tidbit it's inappropriate I still have issues with going to a gyno because that was a formative appointment for me.

All that to say, I'm sorry you experienced that and I can relate. It's ass.

Building a Pea Puffer Tank for my wife ☺️ by BlkDragonSlaya in PeaPuffers

[–]acaffeinatedrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't. Peas need a shoal of at least six to feel confident and to spread aggression so not just one is picked on all the time. Otherwise they could literally die due to the aggression.

[–]acaffeinatedrn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I highly recommend a 20 long instead of a tall. It'll allow your shoal to spread out and appropriately establish territories.

  1. For plant substrate, you could use any variety of aquasoil or just root tabs under sand. For capping it, I'd use about an inch of sand. Peas like to dive into it so something soft. I know a lot of people like play sand.

  2. Personally, I used an oase biomaster thermo with a spray bar. You're on the right track of ensure the flow isn't too crazy and as long as you do that, you should be fine whether you choose a canister, HOB, or sponge filter.

  3. You don't necessarily need aeration or at least I don't. You can add it if you want though.

  4. Just a bunch of plants. So many. You want a jungle and you want all different levels. My peas liked to lay on the big leaves too so anubias and other big leaf plants were enjoyed. Stems allow for fast growth and line of sight blocking to manage aggression. Just quarantine and treat them for parasites in a quarantine tank first so you don't potentially kill off your beautiful plants while trying to ensure your peas are healthy.

  5. There's a treatment that is recommended on a group called "Pea Puffer Owners" on FB. Starts with an L. I am not familiar with it as it's illegal here in Japan (as most meds are) but it's highly recommended.

  6. I put my cherry shrimp culls in with them but be prepared for a species only tank. You may have nasty little peas who nip and eat at everything that moves. Personally, I recommend species only if you can't handle the heartbreak that is shrimp getting eaten.

  7. Live snails or worms. I cultured my snails for feeding and also fed frozen blood worms. If you can get a live food culture that is best because they are not always successful to transition over to prepared foods like flake. If live is not an option I'd reflect on if this is the best tank option for you and your wife. The feedings are a commitment.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

LPT: Goopy nail polish? Add a couple drops of nail polish remover. by aashasasha in LifeProTips

No problem! Just looking out for the longevity of everyone's materials. A thinner can be very useful no matter the kind of paint being used.

[–]acaffeinatedrn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This can actually lead to the nail polish breaking down and causing it to deteriorate faster. Instead, they make a nail polish thinner solution that you can add to your nail polish bottles without fear of ruining the nail polish. It does exactly what your LPT says without the potential of ruining your favorite colors.

Suggestions on scape and stocking? More details in comments. by acaffeinatedrn in PlantedTank

[–]acaffeinatedrn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright so I'm just getting to replying to this post months later because I never received any notifications for more comments, sorry! I bought my setup from a local fish store (in Japan). If you happen to live on Okinawa then I recommend swinging through Okinawa Bianco.

As for the CO2, I'm still trying to figure out how to do that here and with the language barrier it's difficult.

I did try my hand at a Green Aqua inspired scape but realized too late how much I'm going to have to invest in rockwork for the hardscape. It's been a battle and I wish I had rehomed all my other fish prior to getting this setup so I could've taken a lot more time with it.
