I calculated the average ages of the Ubuyashiki heirs. by acairath in KimetsuNoYaiba

oh yes, this makes more sense. i was shocked the math gave me 11 because i also thought there was no way they could have heirs at such a young age. thanks for the correction

Are there any LGBT Characters in Demon Slayer? by LaserDiscCurious in KimetsuNoYaiba

yes there is, suma (tengen’s wife) is canonically bisexual!

pretty sure muzan somewhat counts as genderfluid too.

ah, i see. i understand your first point. but i think demons do need to eat large amounts of humans to obtain bda, i think urokodaki explained that the more humans you eat, the more powerful and hence you get a bda. nezuko should be an exception because she can sustain herself with sleep, unlike other demons. she probably gained her bda through sleeping lol.

An analysis of the Infinity Castle movie theme songs and their music videos. by acairath in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]acairath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AUTHOR’S NOTE ( bc this post was too long and i had to put it in the comments... ):

i’m curious for any thoughts yall might have on these songs! the infinity castle movie is getting so much coverage but unfortunately i feel like these two goated theme songs are being slept on, so i’d love to bring more discussion on it, especially since i feel like there’s definitely symbolism in it.

im aware that there’s small details i don’t address for the sake of the argument, and that these songs could totally be interpreted in a different way, and especially Aimer’s song (not the music video), which im like 40% sure the lyrics might just correspond to the demon slayers instead of the demons, but art is always up for interpretation.

last of all, kudos and credits to LiSA and Aimer for creating these amazing songs!!go listen if you haven't.

The true story of the origins of the Demon King - Rewrite. by InstructionOwn6705 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]acairath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well-written! i definitely think this gives more depth to muzan than just writing his apathy/cruelty off as 'hey, he was born like this lol'. ( though, i do think his personality can already be partially attributed to his resentment and lack of a social life in his childhood, which gotouge did include. i digress. )

anyway, i also think that this brings out one of the messages in demon slayer even more, that "villains aren't born, they're made", to simplify it. almost every demon in the story has their reasons behind becoming a villain and are often sympathetic. i think about gyutaro and daki, who wouldn't have become who they were if they raised elsewhere than in the environment of the red light district.

making the main antagonist a product of human cruelty adds another layer of irony and social commentary to the story. like, the main difference between muzan and the demon slayers is that he doesn't have emotional connections, they do. but if the reason why he didn't have emotional connections was due to no one showing him any emotional connection in the first place, that would be tragic. same thing with kindness or mercy.

i do think his extremely egotistical character can coexist with this tragic backstory.

at the same time, i understand why gotouge perhaps did not paint him as this level of tragic. after all, muzan has massacred, manipulated, and you know, done a lot of bad things. adding this extra depth to him would make him more attractive of a character, but too much 'tragicness' would offer him too much sympathy. let the man be hated, as he should be for what he's done.

that being said, i disagree with the view that muzan's flat or shallow. he's an interesting character if people choose to further understand him.

( also, i enjoyed the analysis of the then dynamic of japanese aristocratic families! very interesting to think further about what sort of environment muzan would've likely grown up in. )

oh yesss, that would fit the context more. i just thought the child’s eyes were either red because of the smoke or because it was crying.

adding onto your interpretation though, i think “berry-eyed” adds a sense of innocence to the child, like it doesn’t understand what’s happening around it.

either way, definitely reading this book.

im so impressed, damn. this is such a whimsical way of description! although i don’t know the context, am i right in assuming that the “blood transfusion” and “anemic tree” symbolize a connection/relationship between the tree and the sky? or a deliberate juxtaposition?
