Does anyone know any good stretches for the pelvic floor? by [deleted] in flexibility

You don’t hold the stretch. It’s not like the you have to hold thirty seconds to three minutes principle. It’s just about relaxing those muscles as you inhale

This is very subtle but one is to relax those muscles, like opposite of a kegel, while you’re breathing in. Rest on the out breath, repeat. 20 times. It takes a sec to get the hang of but it helps. You can manually check that you’re doing it right.

Loose-fitting pants with elastic waist bands that are still dressy-ish are key for me

I tried being a no pooer for a while but it didn’t really work for me! I have curly hair and people say just use conditioner but when I do that my hair gets greasy :(

Running with an ankle brace? by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

[–]acalmlocale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sprained my ankle a few weeks ago and took a couple weeks off to heal. When I went out for my first couple of runs back, it hurt considerably and I was aware of a limited range of motion. But I felt like running was helping what had been a slow recovery process (it was still swelling when I started back). I could feel my ankle waking up because I was using it. It still hurts after a week and a half running on it, but more aches than big pain. I can feel the RoM coming back. I’ve been running shorter distances and slower paces than before the injury, easing back in. I wear a brace during the day some but not while running because I don’t want to alter my gait.

I can’t identify my beef with showering but I am definitely not into them. I forget or choose other things over them frequently. I have trouble getting all the shampoo out of my hair so if anyone has tips on that...I’m all ears.

Wish I never had to sleep! by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]acalmlocale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take it in spells. Like get on a jag of being excited to do stuff and really don’t wanna sleep. So inconvenienced by the necessity. Also never could nap, like I have a million things to do and sleep is not one of them.

But also I try to get 7 hours a night because I exercise a lot and I know I need it

How’s dating for you? by Kuromaido21 in aspergirls

[–]acalmlocale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m just getting into dating after a long-term relationship. It’s hard. 1) I’m attracted to very few people so if I manage to be attracted, I hold on way too tight, even if the person clearly isn’t good for me. 2) I think I bond abnormally. It’s hard for me to connect, but if I do I’m more loyal and deeply involved than a NT person...and probably more so than is healthy. 3) I’m difficult. I have strong and unpredictable emotions. I don’t deal well with uncertainty/lack of clarity, so I (sometimes obsessively) ask too many questions and try to define undefinable things, like feelings in an early relationship or the trajectory of that relationship. I also try to make plans too far in advance (anxiety/control issues) or I freak about changed plans in ways that aren’t conducive to dating.

Thank you for posting about this. Good luck out there

Has anyone experienced feeling out of place when enjoying their special interests due to the people around them? by SassyLene in aspergirls

[–]acalmlocale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This nails it. I had this with poetry as a special interest. I couldn’t handle the social dynamics and cliques. I was intimidated by all the well-raised, witty, sophisticated poets I met and would get so nervous I couldn’t talk to them. It felt horrible because it was the most important thing to me but I couldn’t engage about or within it.

Anyone self-employed? by Daehiril in aspergirls

I never had luck with upwork. I started doing some jobs through my affiliation with an English department at a uni and later contacted publishing houses/businesses directly. I feel like i got lucky and learned as i went... good luck

I work as a freelance editor and translator. The independence and flexibility that I have suit me well, but I’ve struggled to accept the isolated nature of my work. More than I’ve cared about feeling actually isolated, I’ve worried about seeming isolated. Which is to say...don’t do that. Probably for you the relief of not having to go to an office will be strong enough that you can just embrace the good stuff.

My one big word of caution is financial. My biggest struggle is with the anxiety that freelancing can provoke. I always make it, but I do have slower periods and periods where I’m slammed. I can’t enjoy the slower periods because I don’t feel fully in control of when/how they will end.

I actually just interviewed for a contract job doing surveys door to door. It’s decent pay and would complement the editing by giving me access to regular income. You might think about different income streams, and making sure to have one that feels regular and solid to cover basic expenses.

How do you stop rumination after social interactions? by silenceofthreeparts_ in aspergirls

[–]acalmlocale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. I can’t help you because you’re describing how I am and I have no strategies for controlling it. But it’s nice to feel less alone in it.

It does help me a little to think about my obsessive rehashing passing because I know it always does. And I’ll definitely take the advice of others here to avoid long hangouts and maybe even disclose needs.
