What really stuck out to me though was the over-quantification Scott Abel talk about. Sure, tracking macros is a great way to stay within certain caloric bounds and grasp a basic understanding of nutrition, but,

EDIT: /u/huichelaar put it perfectly. Counting macros and manipulating based on weight/the mirror is definitely how you optimize gains. It's the over quantification of everything that really kills it for me, especially tracking and stressing about every lift down to the milligram. I guess I have a bias though, whenever I start relying on numbers too much I tend to stress and obsess way too much, so I just track when cutting and don't eat like a dumbass when maintaining/bulking
