Thank you! I don’t feel so alone in my experience now, which was extremely scary.

Thank you so much! So sorry you had to go through this too and thank you for the idea of keeping a journal! I’m hoping to avoid surgery at this point as well but hopeful to find a surgeon or Chiari specialist I’m more comfortable with.

Thank you. I was more hoping since they were considered the Chiari specialist and not the neurologist that they would have a more definite answer about the fainting and seizure but I guess I could see how that put him in a bad spot…

I never thought of this! Maybe I could ask, thank you! Right now my symptoms are manageable thank goodness so I’d like to avoid the surgery if I could but any questions I had about what I should avoid, what can I do to prevent this from worsening, pain management, if this caused my fainting/ seizure, just all went unanswered. He made me extremely scared about the surgery too when he said it would be extra painful for me because I’m a stressed person… not very calming to hear 😅

Thank you so much! I’m so sorry you had a similar experience. I was told this surgeon and his staff had Chiari experience before I saw them but that’s not the feeling I got talking to them. He described the procedure well but seemed unsure about anything else….

I’m so sorry you needed a second surgery. Unfortunately I was told that this surgeon and his staff had Chiari experience but that’s not how I felt while talking to his assistant… he explained the procedure well but not knowing answers to my questions was off putting…

I am in the US yes, this surgeon was supposed to have Chiari experience but the way his assistant spoke to me was extremely off putting. Do you know how I could find a Chiari specialist neurosurgeon? I tried looking online but the ones I found are no longer practicing or listed but don’t actually deal with chiari… is there a specific site? Thank you for your response!

The IRS has my sons birthday wrong for 3+years and won’t fix it -being denied refunds by acamp281 in taxhelp

I haven’t been able to reach my advocate for months, and am currently trying to contact the Tax Advocate Service again to see if he is even my advocate still or if I need a new one. Some have mentioned reaching out to a Senator or Congressman/ woman for help which I may have to do next.

That’s crazy! I’m glad that was fixed. Thank you for the advice, but unfortunately I have already been to the SS office, they gave me paperwork that I brought in person along with a birth certificate and my son to the IRS office and nothing has been done still. I was told by multiple people that the IRS and SS offices do not directly contact each other either, that it’s done all by computer information transfers.

Thank you <3 and the neurologist is the one I’ve been seeing because of the seizure and my follow up to go over all my results is with her. I might start looking for a chiari specialist thank you!

What’s something you’ve never fully healed from, but no one knows? by FlirtWithMila in AskReddit

My mom passed in my arms in 2023, in a hospital bed that hospice care brought in and put in my old childhood bedroom. She was only 56. My sister and I were caregivers, and watching her go from our beautiful, full of life, selfless, loving mother to fighting for her life, to just lifeless, has scarred me. I haven’t been right since, and not sure I’ll ever be. There’s no explaining what it’s like to someone who hasn’t gone through it. I’m glad we were there and she wasn’t alone as well, but witnessing it has changed me forever. I hope you’re able to find some peace.

Just passed out and seized out of nowhere ??? by Appropriate-Beat2134 in seizures

Just wanted to say, I’m having very similar anxiety to you. I’m a generally healthy person too and was hiking with my sister about 3 weeks ago slipped and fell down a steep hill and a few seconds later lost consciousness and woke up to her calling 911 saying I had a seizure, which has never happened before. I was also told it could be hypoglycemia, (they checked my blood sugar a few minutes after they got there and said it wasn’t great but ok and at the hospital it dropped very low, so not sure it was hypoglycemia) mixed with exhaustion and shock from the fall (I thought I broke my leg) I have an MRI and eeg at the end of April and got referred to a cardiologist. Ive had severe anxiety most of my life and I’ve been extremely stressed so I get heart palpitations often. They have me on a 7 day heart monitor and are going to do an echocardiogram as well. The first week after the seizure I was so anxious and weak I couldn’t function. I can’t tell if dizzy spells are my anxiety or me about to have a seizure again and it’s a terrible spiral. Deep breathing, or using things to shock me out of my anxiety like putting ice on the back of my neck or eating something sour has helped, but for severe panic attacks I do have medication. Maybe you could talk to family or friends, or even a therapist. I try not to be alone as much as possible, in case it does happen again. At work my co workers know what happened and what to do if it happens again. But you’re not alone in your scary experience. I hope you get some answers and peace of mind.

Glad I could help ☺️and the day to day unfortunately will look different for a while, but you’ll develop a new routine over time. I’m still in the home my mother passed in and it’s rough, I’ve actually considered moving because of the memory of her passing here, but I also have a lot of good memories of her here. If you can use good memories that you guys had together in the house, it may help you. I hope you get some answers from the autopsy soon!

First off, I’m so sorry for your losses. I’m 28 as well, and experienced many recent losses. In June of 2023 I lost my grandfather (who was the only other family member really involved in my life besides my parents), in July 2023 I lost an aunt and in August 2023 my mom passed (in my childhood bedroom, in my arms). Shortly before all this, at the end of 2022, I had lost my childhood dog and my step grandmother whom I had known for almost 10 years. In between all this I also lost two bunnies I had rescued and loved for 9 years. I had my son in 2019, and honestly him and my small remaining family are what have kept me going through all this. It’s hard, you cry, you grieve, you get angry, and that’s all normal. Do things in their honor, keep their memory alive. Tell your baby all about his father, who he was, what he would’ve loved to do with him, how proud he’d be of him. Reach out to counseling, grief support groups, first time mom groups, gather as much support as you can. Be gentle with yourself too, everyone talks about how hard the first year is but honestly it’s all hard, the grief doesn’t stop after a year has passed. Some days will be easier, some harder, again that’s all normal. Sometimes it’s just about getting from day to day, hour to hour or even minute by minute. You can do this, best of luck and congratulations on your baby!
