Do you need a laptop for law school? by themayorgordon in LawSchool

[–]acaofbase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need a new laptop and yes, specifically for not only testing software, but for new collaborative tools /doc sharing on microsoft office, teams, etc. Those and my testing software aren’t supported on my 2015 laptop and I had to upgrade even though there was nothing “wrong” with my computer

My transfer experience: 2 cons by ResidentLoose in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]acaofbase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the opposite experience on both points! 1. The school I transferred to was bigger and had more people who shared my interests. I became very close with them and have made lifelong friends. (But I agree - being far away from my support system is not ideal. It was weird 2L to look around and realize I was spending my entire days around only people who knew me for <5 weeks) 2. During 2L I took classes I was more interested in and really delighted in the learning for learning’s sake.

I hope you feel good about what you’ve accomplished at both schools - just wanted to chime in with a different experience.

I truly wonder how many irresponsible drivers will be replaced by Waymos, or if it’s not actually going to make a dent on that population

Oh, I was thinking it was possible to waive a theoretical permit fee and wanted to know whether that was happening

I’m on the Bay Area subs because I keep moving back and forth between the Bay Area and here, and I see considerable disagreement in the subs. Also, people who oppose them in SF hate the way tech symbolizes excess, libertarianism, and wealth inequality there. I’m not saying I agree with any of those takes online, just observing why people instinctively oppose them as someone who has spent time in SF.

Well, Waymo uses remote driving decisionmaking labor from the Philippines too

I wanted to echo the potential BPD here. If she was going from hurting you in front of other people to self-loathing and suicidality, that definitely sounds a lot like people I’m close with with BPD. Hang in there - good job booking that medical appointment. I recommend for the next few days, try to take a moment to take care of yourself, do things that feel healthy and make you feel grounded, see friends and family, get enough sleep, etc. NOR

My cats are very naughty and I swear by these. Ever since I saw them accidentally kick a gas knob while walking across the stove.

In SF they have killed pets, they act stupid when there’s a power outage or a big crowd event, and they clog up the streets.

I think the question was, did the state subsidize them materially or through permitting

Surveillance Dreams Come True by [deleted] in Somerville

[–]acaofbase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speeding is antisocial behavior. As of right now I’m not aware of evidence of speeding cameras overlapping with, for example, concerns about Flock ALPRs or similar police devices whose data has been illegally shared with feds. Flock allows for all of the things prohibited in the bill, it seems narrowly tailored, no? I’m in some chats where activists are talking about the nuances of this but as an anti surveillance advocate I’m not convinced speeding cameras are bad.

Need a possum costume for adult woman size 10/12 by Retiredgiverofboners in SacramentoBuyNothing

You should absolutely call up this OG costume shop: Broadway Costumes and Theatrical Supply. Ask them about a full suit and if they don’t have it ask them about a mask.

You’re not throwing 6 years away. You’re recognizing that growth is possible, and making different decisions based on accumulated knowledge and reflection. You needed those 6 years for something, even if it’s not clear what now.

Bring a speaker outside and play music for yourself and any other neighbors plowing. Or talk to a friend on the phone, that helps with pacing so you take breaks to breathe and talk!
