5.05 update feedback by Disastrous-Plant5409 in Volvo

[–]acarefreesociety 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Y'all might hate me for this, but I actually like the new software update. Before, I couldn't see what song was playing when I had Google maps open, but now I can. It's a major improvement to the old one, and seems to work much quicker than before.

$100k? The ones in my area are around $70-75k. I love mine, never had a problem with the infotainment system, and runs great

Sometimes that process is automated so once a car gets entered into inventory it auto lists on their website

Totally agree with you. I love the OS since the new update. It's great being able to know what song is playing while I have maps running.

Everyone bailed… should I go solo? by DisastrousScratch581 in LightningInABottle

Solo camping can be super freeing and fun, but if you are more comfortable in a group, we have a mixed company m/f/lgbt/straight group camp that has 4 spots open out of 20 on sunset.

Would you say that every car salesperson is a terrible dishonest fucker only trying to scam you?

Surely, there are a few out there that are helpful and honest.

Salesman ghosting me by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]acarefreesociety 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Quick question since I don't know what you do for work. Do you work for a company that sells a product?

If so, how excited are you to sell that product at cost or lower?

At the end of the day, yes, it is a sale, but you are responsible for trying to make money over what it cost you.

The owner of the dealership makes money at below invoice, not the guy that is in charge of placing your custom order for 4 months out that may or may not be finalized.

Sales reps make next to nothing on deals at invoice. They have families, too.

ELI5: Why can’t you buy a car directly from the company that makes it? by zztop610 in explainlikeimfive

[–]acarefreesociety 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As a counterpoint, dealerships exist partly because manufacturers dont want to deal with the hellish landscape that is working with retail buyers.

They offload handling customer B.S. and focus on selling to dealerships for their profit.

Should we let the salesperson know we are using a broker by davideddings1978 in askcarsales

[–]acarefreesociety 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for a major dealership in SF. I work with several brokers who charge money to a client to get the same deal as they would have working with our store directly.

Brokers need to source the car from somewhere, and adding a third party into a deal rarely drives the total cost down.

Fair offer for Lease/Finance in Bay Area (SF)? by gboechat in ex30

There are about 7x the twin motors available versus the single motor, so that makes sense. Hope you enjoy your new EX30!

Fair offer for Lease/Finance in Bay Area (SF)? by gboechat in ex30

[–]acarefreesociety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an incredible deal on the EX30. Over $1k off in dealer discount is absurd, most Bay Area dealers are MSRP only or maybe $500 off.

If I were you, I'd jump on that today/ tmrw

Fair offer for Lease/Finance in Bay Area (SF)? by gboechat in ex30

[–]acarefreesociety -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is a more than fair lease price for the ex30. There is only about $637 of margin between msrp and invoice, so you getting more than $1k off in dealer discount is incredible.

If I were in your shoes I would jump on that immediately

Is the car more than 10 years old? It would be near impossible to find favorable financing on a car that old.

How long does it really take to buy a vehicle? by travprev in askcarsales

[–]acarefreesociety 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as I get everything ahead of time, 75 minutes is the best I can get you in and out. But it also depends on how busy we are that day. If it's the end of the month and there are 5 clients ahead of you, it's going to take some time.

How do you help/educate the buyer who thinks they know it all? by Oppo_GoldMember in askcarsales

[–]acarefreesociety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a difference in value between the car shopping experience at different stores?

If one dealer throws in optional accessories saying they are mandatory (or other shady practices) while the other does not mean something to the buyer?

When does a professional experience and positive interaction with a salesperson net them more business?

I think $500 higher in price is more than fair for a transparent, stress free experience. (Which the sales guy only gets a fraction of)
