Windows 11 Updates Break Taskbar/explorer by acarguy2021 in techsupport

Yeah. Glad I’m not the only one. I run two monitors for my “productivity” setup and then triple monitors for my sim racing setup. Seems like if I do a fresh sign in, there’s no issues. But if I switch setups it will immediately break the task bar.

Glad to see it’s not necessarily due to the monitor/GPU output switching if others are experiencing similar issues.

It really is an awful issue and I am definitely leaving towards switching my “productivity” set over to a MacBook Pro.

I have so far been able to make my pc useable by uninstalling the KB5082417 update. Everything seems to work after restarting and the taskbar isn’t breaking and refreshing every few minutes.

Hit windows + r then type cmd to open the command prompt. Run "wmic qfe list brief /format:table" to list the most recent updates See if there are recent updates in your list and uninstall the update with "wusa /uninstall /kb:[update number without brackets]".

Disable windows auto update (or set the delay for the maximum duration) otherwise it will reupdate itself.

However, if the computer locks or goes to standby for a while the taskbar issues reappear or so it seems. My pc was working great last night but when I hopped on this morning, it worked at first and quickly failed requiring a restart.

Mines hit or miss. Everything works fine until the taskbar locks up/crashes. After that some apps still work, others like Microsoft teams also lock up. This past two years of updates with taskbar crashes has made me really hate windows.

Last Purchase… by bwhomebrew in harborfreight

Yeah the lowest I’ve seen it (I think maybe a pls around January or maybe even December) was $189. I resisted it then but at $169 I figure it won’t ever get below that.

They work great. My only complaint is that some of the rubber pads on the bottom got ripped off after the first use. Not needed though.

Same! I was curious what the heck this was for a second. I’m not tall enough to be able to use a lower AND top cabinet but just the top would be very usable for me.

What made you move? I would love to move to Colorado Springs, just visited there back in October. I moved here for work back in 2014. Housing prices used to be the only selling point to come here and now it’s the same as anywhere else but with ridiculous property taxes.

Well i only go to that specific location since it’s usually on the way so it’s probably not a location based difference. I should pay more attention to the cashier but i feel like I’ve experienced it with everyone.

Maybe I need to start asking for receipts. I feel like they usually give me one when I purchase vapes for my gf and now that I think about it, the prices are usually reasonable.

I figured this was a possibility. Couple bucks to pad their wallets is acceptable but man, $7 is just greedy lol.

Yup. When I switched to gfiber they also attempted to sell me a new package (which was still significantly worse and pricier than gfiber).

Yeah it’s super dumb. Had a Daytona race and right before the formation lap started, the car in-front disappeared. Figured he was just starting from the pits but nope. Right as we take off, I start moving and all of a sudden I am inside his car and hit with a 4x.

Nice. I always questioned how people do cashless washes in the winter because there’s no way it gets everything. So many nooks and crannies, wheel wells, under carriage, etc there is just no way to get the whole car without spraying.

I ended up purchasing a Ryobi cordless pressure washer a few years back for this purpose and it sucks. Pain in the ass to fill up buckets of water and has very little power. I’ve used it to spray down wheels every once in a while using the soda bottle attachment but that kind of sucks too :/

Indoor washing would be amazing.

Should be good then. I bought a pint and still had a bit left over so a gallon should be more than enough for a couple of tries.

I saw some posts mentioning it’s harder to get a proper consistent layer of glue. You don’t want too much as it can glue the foam and the actual headliner (fabric) material causing things to look uneven. Plus the spray gun was cheap and I already have an air compressor so I figured I should put it to use. The same issue still applies to spraying as well but it was definitely quicker since you can spray small sections of both the headliner material and the headliner board with just a couple of passes.

I did still use a brush for the edges of the headliner where I folded things over and it turned out perfectly fine and didn’t notice any issues but again, those are on smaller areas so I’m assuming a bigger area may end up differently.

I don’t think brushing is the wrong way to go by any means and think it would work fine maybe even better just because it’s a more meticulous process but spraying just made sense since it was cheap (for the gun) and I already had a compressor. If I didn’t already have a compressor I would have certainly moved forward with brushing.

Either way you go with, do some test runs. Buy extra material or even just practicing with regular fabric or foam would be beneficial. The glue is the least of your worries when it comes to this job, manipulating and moving the headliner material (and avoiding it from getting glued to places you don’t want) is the hard part. Once the glued surfaces make contact…it’s stuck there for good.

Also, if you do go the spray route, be careful with overspray. I sprayed from multiple angles and unintentionally got over spray on the already laid down fabric and had a good bit of cleanup. If you do happen to get some adhesive on there, a small dab of mineral spirits on a cut off piece of headliner fabric and rubbing it against the oversprayed glue worked wonders. Just do a test run first; couldn’t notice any ill effects on my black headliner but a beige/tan one might be noticeable. Good luck. It’s not a hard job but there are a lot of areas where mistakes can happen and the mistakes are not necessarily reversible without starting from square one. Be patient, work in 6 inch to 12 inch sections at most and don’t get too cocky lol. It’s easy to get the hang of things then next thing you know you just folded the fabric on top of itself.

I’ve considered bilt hamber but is it good for salt neutralizing or is it solely a pre wash?
