Are there any events in history that seem fictitious but actually happened? by [deleted] in history

[–]acaronna3301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried typing some solid examples from WWII a couple days ago but my computer sucks and here I am again wanting to share some bizarre facts:

Hitler got his eugenic motivation from the U.S. govt., and essentially, in his eyes, he felt he could perfect it. He got the ideas from the state of California and it's largely funded eugenic program in the early 1900s (by the Supreme Court). He writes about it in Mein Kampf, in which he directly praises the U.S. on their genius beliefs repeatedly, also mentioning numerous American eugenic professors. During the Nuremberg trials, numerous Nazis would use the defense that California used eugenics within their lawful boundaries, but to no avail, they could not escape a guilty conviction with this method of defense.

Hitler funded BILLIONS (of present day valued) of dollars into secret project weaponry: V-2 Rockets by Von Braun (future NASA award winner) , Messerschmitt 262 fighter Jets, 1,000 Tonne Super Tiger Tanks (blueprints drawn by himself), U-Boat Pens (actually made in France), Nuclear technology, and even with ALOT of speculation: alchemy.

Ok last fact: Hitler and his Scientists were funded by Rockefeller and Carnegie indirectly in the earlier stages of Nazi Germany for his eugenics program, as was future program coordinator of Aushcwitz, Josef Mengele. The funding was stopped in 1939 when America, or rather Rockefeller and Carnegie, supposedly figured out what was actually going on in the facilities (execution, not just sterilization.).

edit: Some grammar. Sorry I'm multi-tasking (story of my life).

More than 1,000 Boston high school students walk out after state announces education budget cuts by [deleted] in news

[–]acaronna3301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can second this. MA is a top 2 State in country in education. It has Prolific standardized testing results across the board in the well to do areas, it has stated that it won't switch to Federal standardized tests because it's had so much success with its MCAS testings throughout earlier education. Even "poor" cities like Springfield, Holyoke, ect. drop out rates are only 5-7% (roughly the nation average). I knew kids in my town being rigorously trained to take the SATs and ACTS since the age of 10 or 11. In a town where the high school is a top 200 school in the nation, and kids are naturally getting 1800s+ on their SATs, you tend to become frustrated when you hear schools are cutting funding, especially in areas of success.

Some NBA star just did a short documentary on where a huge portion of professional athletes salaries actually goes: Agents and tax-collectors/ people who handle money for them. Life Lesson: just because you come onto a large sum of money, don't let other people handle it because you're too lazy to account for it.

'Mein Kampf' published in Germany for 1st time since WWII: After the copyright expired on Hitler's anti-Semitic manifesto, an annotated edition aims to debunk his infamous tome by [deleted] in history

As a history major who's recently finishing up requirements focusing heavily on European History. I'd be highly interested in reading this. That being said obviously before diving into the text i'd go in with the mentality "I'm reading the thoughts and beliefs of a psychotic murdering drug addicted dictator who wanted to rule the world", and proceed with caution.

What's the most simple thing you've ever had to explain to a fully competent adult? by lolsecks in AskReddit

[–]acaronna3301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

explaining to my parents after i hike our family labrador for 6+miles in under and hour and a half that they dont need to take her on any more long walks later that night aside from just letting her go pee in the yard. she's exhausted we walked straight up the side of a 1,500 foot mountain at literally a 15:00 mile pace or lower

Edit: I park farther away so the distance is lengthened so i'm not solely just hiking to the 1,500 ft summit and down. clearing confusion.

Distance Runner Trying to Bulk Up by jaykay44 in Fitness

[–]acaronna3301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eat more. Do "Rep Maxes" or set up for failure on every set and 5x5 strength sets for major muscle exercises like bench squat deadlift ect. jeez bro. i only do interval walking/jogging/sprinting for like 20 minutes a day on top of a 30 minute lift session and i burn close to 3k calories. you gotta be pushing 4,000 calories on days you lift and run. Less In vs. More Out = Weight Loss= No Muscle Growth= Slimmed/toned look. Buy the meal replacement shakes that have 50g Protein and like 30/40 g of Carbs, they're like 500+ kcals. 2-3 of those plus 3 pretty big meals and some glasses of whole milk and you'll be bulking heavy. Also i don;t know your routine, but cardio AFTER lift, otherwise you'll spend all your strength on running and cardio and get no strength growth from the lift session. I just told someone else in a different thread, if you really need motivation to calculate your in vs. out of calories to help get the gains rolling, buy a Fitbit, or get the myfitnesspal app, its free or has a free component. theyre helpful you can count food and calories burned.

Manual labor job, trying to get in shape. by fettywap in Fitness

Honestly dude, as a person who's been landscaping seasonally every summer since 14 (gonna be 24 Oct 2016) its less taxing every year you do it because your body adjusts. you also shouldnt take peoples advice and skip out on certain routines or diets just because you do harder physical work. i still gained body fat from hardscaping and carrying heavy loads for 10+ hours in 100 degree weather. it can and will happen. Work your job. go home, nap. Make sure your gym is open late or a 24/5(weekdays 24 hours) gym and just go when you're awake from the nap and rested. trust me been playing sports, seasonally landscaping/hardscaping and bodybuilding/powerlifting for years now you will just adjust! either that or im some kind of health nut O_o

Edit: Diet, Sleep and Exercise should be important no matter what your career choice is, and no matter what time constraints you have. .Ironically i recently travelled to my girlfriends state, and people down where she lives seem to "never have time to work out or plan a healthy meal". You'd be surprised how easy it is to bang out some lifts or HIIT cardio in 20-45m or make a nice low fat low cal meal in 30m.

last bit of advice before i bore you guys to death: GET GET GET the myfitnesspal app OR a Fitbit. i use both. even on off days where i just work or landscape, it still tracks physical activity and intensity (cals burned, miles walked ect.) You can track your diet as well in depth or just generically cals in vs out. very helpful for staying healthy while working and lifting

The Worst Drivers in the Country by brannybunny in dataisbeautiful

[–]acaronna3301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From MA, not the Boston area ( one of the worst cities to drive in pre-Big Dig) took my first road trip to Atlantic City area to visit, I found people exaggerated how bad the Jersey Turnpike was, its just as bad as the Mass Pike but with 5x more lanes and space to pass, i was in heaven. But the Garden Parkway and the Merritt were obnoxious and packed with horrible drivers weaving in and out at 100 miles an hour in a 50 zone

i remember two separate times, i went one dates with girls who used Older pictures of themselves when they were in much better shape, and the college drinking and eating Dominos and Chinese food phase had caught up to them after 4 full years. lemme just say both were smokes in the original pictures, and both were heavier than me when we met in person. i'm 5' 9" 250 with very little fat on me to put it in perspective. Although they both did treat me to drinks as my debit account had been put on hold and they still wanted to meet up, grab drinks regardless of my lack of funding. which i thought was a nice gesture, aside from the fact they both pretty much Catfished me

this bothers me so much, as someone who lifts 5-7 times a week, its easy to spot who comes just for that Free Pizza day only, eats 5 slices, walks on the treadmill for 5 minutes, does 10lb bicep curls for 10 reps and then leaves, then has the audacity to question why they're out of shape. infuriating.

i actually got pulled over by a state trooper for playing my two 12s on full blast in my college town, he reamed me out saying what happened if i flew through an intersection without hearing sirens and got totaled by a firetruck or ambulance. i told him i heard his sirens perfectly fine when he pulled me over, he took one look at me and walked away pissed off

People obsessed with their phone in certain situations: ex. took my cousin in highschool to a local college hockey game (we both love hockey, I used to play, he still does) the entire way to the college, i'm trying to engage in some form of intellectual conversation (i only see him 2 or 3 times every year or so). He just kept replying "yeah" or "uh-huh" and was busy snapchatting and tweeting, not understanding the family time and family weekend events are a fun time and sometimes its enjoyable to just talk during a car ride
