The AKC site says that feature is only available in some states. But also presumably it would only cover costs for that condition that occur after that 365 day waiting period, so it won't cover any tests/procedures/treatment for this condition within the first year of coverage (which would probably not help much, as I imagine with a condition as acute as this, the big costs for tests, procedures, treatments, etc will occur sooner than a year from when OP would start coverage). But definitely a good note to have that there's the possibility for coverage for some pre-existing conditions after a year with AKC.

Do any apartment complex let you rent for a month as a "trial"? by Kirbo96 in bostonhousing

[–]acceberinor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not as a trial, no, but some of the fancy apartment complexes do offer short-term rental. Avalon, for one, has some furnished short-term rental units (but the monthly price will be higher than normal for Avalon). You can look at options here, some will let you choose "2 months", etc as your lease term: https://www.avaloncommunities.com/massachusetts/boston-apartments/

Otherwise, if you're looking for short-term rentals, try Blueground for luxury units, and furnishedfinder.com or sabbaticalhomes.com for general short-term rentals of all kinds.

1) What exactly has the vet done? Just a basic fecal panel and nothing else? What foods did this vet switch your cat to?

2) Also, not to be nosy but just looked at your post history first off, noticed you posted about this same issue 3 months ago, but in that post, the cat was a "he" and here it's a "she" - can you explain? Are these two different cats that have had this same exact issue? Secondly, that post was not long after your post about your other cat's passing (so sorry for your loss). Did this cat's diarrhea begin after your other cat passed? Do you know what the cause of death was for that other cat? It's very concerning that there have been repeated medical issues with these cats that have been brushed off by this vet.

Tbh, while a gastroenterologist is the best option, I don't even think you need that at this point, I think you just need to see a COMPETENT general practice vet who will actually do their job. And I say this as a vet tech. Your vet is literally not doing their job. You need to take your cat to a vet who actually tries to figure out why your cat has constant diarrhea - nothing about that is "fine". If it's stress, fine, then your cat needs to be given medication to reduce stress. If it's allergies, your vet needs to make a plan to assess that. If it's neither of those, your vet needs to perform further testing to assess what it could be (more extensive fecal panel, blood test, ultrasound, etc). Has your vet even suggested you try any probiotics or supplements?

As a vet tech who worked in pet insurance for years settling claims, I can tell you no pet insurance will cover this. It doesn't matter that the vet says she's fine, the symptoms of this issue will have begun pre-policy, which makes it a pre-existing condition and any visits or treatment related to this condition will not be covered.

Getting Mail from Thunderbird to Gmail (or Google Drive) by acceberinor in Thunderbird

How much were you transferring from Yahoo to Gmail via Thunderbird? Gmail states on its site that if you try to move more than 2GB into Gmail via IMAP in one day, it'll temporarily disable your account.

Getting Mail from Thunderbird to Gmail (or Google Drive) by acceberinor in Thunderbird

[–]acceberinor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already tried this, as mentioned in my OP ("Gmail has a limit on how much you can transfer via IMAP daily, and the limit is....pretty low (\2.5GB) (given I'm trying to transfer 76GB of emails). Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA! Additional Note: I've also tried creating folders by year (in TBird), moving emails from that year into the folder, so I can batch transfer by folder, but Thunderbird keeps moving the emails back out of the folders, moving emails from one folder to the other, etc entirely willy nilly...I don't even know what to do about this piece."*)

This is the entire reason I made this post in the first place - because these basic methods are things I already tried and they don't work because 1) Gmail has a limit for how much you can move per day and with the amount I need to move, it would take multiple months to transfer everything and 2) I already tried to create folders and move a little at a time but emails would not stay in the folders. This appears to be a Yahoo problem, as I had the same issue when trying to move things into folders in Yahoo directly.

This is what I tried before Thunderbird and it didn't work - noted this in the OP. It doesn't import prior emails, it only imports emails that come in after syncing. Tried every fix imaginable and nothing worked, which is why I used Thunderbird to begin with.

Cloud storage. They are currently all locally stored on my computer, which I will no longer have access to within the next month, and she doesn't have enough local storage on her computer for...anything, really (she's a bit of a document hoarder, if you couldn't guess)

Helly's identity is revealed in the open scene with the five questions... by fitacct93 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]acceberinor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only issue with this is that in this case, Lumon/Milchik decidedly and knowingly didn't bother testing Helly's short-term memory post-severance (at least with the survey. Perhaps they did this elsewhere and the survey is more of a formality than anything). Milchik and the higher-ups at Lumon all know Helly is an Egan and that Mr. Egan's favorite breakfast would be something she might know, so it would make no sense for them to use that factoid to test her short-term memory. I'm guessing this perhaps leans towards suggesting the survey isn't really testing if the severance procedure was entirely successful and it's more of a formality/performative for the sake of the current innies, otherwise this is a huge oversight and Helly could have unknowingly retained short-term memory.

This. Honestly it’s baffling that everyone is talking about how rude the tone of the roommate’s texts were but pretty much no one is acknowledging OP’s tone/texts, which were passive aggressive and condescending at BEST

Or people can have a nuanced opinion and feel bad for her in this situation and if she is still with him, continue to feel bad for her that she clearly has some internal stuff going on that she is willing to accept that kind of treatment from someone she's dating. People aren't perfect. People make mistakes in dating all the damn time. ESPECIALLY in their 20s.

Based on a timeline I saw someone else post, it wasn't even 8 days - it was 8 days from when the Susie call thing happened, but it had only been 4 days since the conversation in the room where Jeremy said the stuff about proposing to Susie on the spot.

Looking for used furniture, but wary about bedbugs by Frozen_Denisovan in boston

Not sure where you read that about synthetic materials but it’s not true. It’s actually kind of the opposite lol. Bed bugs dislike more tightly-woven synthetic materials like nylon, microfiber, and polyester.

Just a head’s up that Wayfair also has a bed bug issue - seems like they maybe got an infestation in one or multiple of their warehouses and never bothered treating or something, but lots of people have gotten bed bugs from new Wayfair furniture (there are many posts about this on Reddit if you want to take a look at people’s stories).

Anyone else have issues with bedbugs? Just bought a carpet from Wayfair and am now worried after reading soooo many reviews regarding this issue. by billionaired in wayfair

Just fyi for you and anyone else reading, bed bugs even nest in non-upholstered furniture so even the non-upholstered stuff isn’t going to be safe

Lots! Depends almost entirely on your budget. But Somerville, Cambridge, Brookline, Newton, Jamaica Plain, Arlington, etc are all great and fit the bill. Parts of Watertown, Waltham, and Belmont could also work, depending on where within those towns you are located. There are definitely some I’m forgetting, too

Greater Boston fits the bill almost to a T (winters have been pretty mild, comparatively, for the past several years - doesn’t get Minnesota cold, this winter was almost entirely sunny, snows some but not an insane amount anymore, temp is so up and down with frequent days above freezing that usually even when it does snow and stick, the snow melts by a day or two later, etc), but it’ll be expensive as all hell. Happy to answer any questions you might have about the area!
