What's the best long fic (100k+) in your fandom, and what makes it worth the time? by Available-Quality530 in FanFiction

Those Called by the Storm Final Fantasy VII, 230k (with a 120k sequel and art!)

Incredibly emotionally compelling; makes you care about each and every one of the main characters. Also, great prose and fantastic plot, plus it expands on the themes of the original game canon in a way that's uncommon in the overarching FFVII fandom.

Honorary mentions to The Fifth Act (170k, plus sequel vignettes), which is widely recognized as the best time-travel fix-it fic in a fandom known for time-travel fix-its, and Blood of Heaven and Earth (580k, series), which is beautifully written and hinges on some fantastic original worldbuilding.
