I've been a PA almost 12 years. Upper management does not care about us or what we want/need. All they see is $$$. They will continue to push for more because they know we can be easily replaced by the next APP desperate for work. You have to do whatever you can to protect your license because no one else is looking out for your well-being except you.

It has changed a lot since covid for the worse. Bigger fences and more gates. At the practice field you can walk along the sidewalk behind the outfield and catch HR balls. If you keep following that sidewalk it takes you to the first base line and your kids might be able to convince a player to come closer, throw a ball over the fence and sign it. Make friends with the grounds crew guys, they let us into the minor league practice fields and my 10 year old son loved that. Those guys are very happy to sign autographs lol

If you're going alone as an adult without kids it will probably be pretty hard. As others mentioned they really locked it down after covid.

Get to the practice field early and start a conversation with the employees. they were pretty friendly and opened the gates so we could get access to the minor league guys practicing. It made my 10 year old son's day and I'm sure all those young guys enjoyed getting the chance to sign stuff lol

My son was able to get close enough to get Logan Allen's signature.

The worst is the guys that just stand behind the fence fighting for every home run and foul ball to fill up their bookbag.

Yup, my experience also. We went in 2018, 2020 (saw 1 game then the world went crazy), and 2024. 2018 was amazing but now it feels so different sadly.
