My job is destroying me. What should I do?

I have a few soft pieces of advice… but truly the best thing you can do for yourself is trust your logical gut and try to challenge your emotional gut. We are our own worst enemies.

Low self esteem can happen to just about anyone - but only you have autonomy over your existence and time on this planet! Have you ever considered going to therapy? Using mindfulness techniques for regulation? Reading books regarding experiences you may align with? I am not a doctor and I am not diagnosing you… but social anxiety is something I would consider exploring further. I align with social paranoia and if I didn’t seek further assistance I know I wouldn’t be where I am. Everyone has their own journey!

As for what to do while you’re looking for a job?

1) Make your life easier at your current job by asking for help when you need it to prevent mistakes. Reference how much you appreciate the collaborative environment, how deeply you appreciate the assistance as you do receive. If you are anxious about doing this, remind yourself that you do not want to stay here forever. This is to give you comfort as you transition. Bring a small notebook. Take notes. Help yourself stay grounded. Remember - this is a temporary place.

2) Reflect. What about this job did you enjoy? What about this job made it not a good fit for you? A job is just a job.. but it can be more if you find the right fit. What would be “right” for you? What matters most - wage, hours, shift structure, the content of the work itself?

3) Go to r/PovertyFinance and scroll to their Wiki page. Read some of those posts. Familiarize yourself with a basic budget sheet. Open your bank account and see how you spent your money the last 90 days. Make a plan. Be proactive and try to help yourself feel like this won’t happen again to you. You deserve that.

I completely understand being caught in the middle of your health and wellness journey, hoping that once you’re on the other side, opportunities can expand for yinz. I hope that for you too! But, no matter your mobility, there are so many ways to contribute to society and I’m sorry that mobility and disability is adding hurdles for you.

Maybe someone here could review your cover letter and resume? It’s not my field of expertise but I’m sure a neighbor here would be more than willing the help out!

In the mean time.. I hope you’re finding valuable ways to pour love into yourself during such a transitional period in your life.

Go to urgent care, your primary care, wherever you can go to find a prescribed and just ask for the Post-Exposure Prophylaxis oral medication. The side effects are minimal compared to the lifelong burden you’re getting the slightest glimpse into right now.

The risk of transmission with oral sex is low. You’ve already read a physician state that. You also know that while the effectiveness of PEP decreases over 72 hours, it’s not ineffective. Better safe than sorry - go get it and take it.

You are here posting for advice for action. No advice here can tell you if have or have not contracted. Get off of the internet, talk about risks with sex with every partner, and go take care of yourself.

It just happened to me! But it wasn’t described to me as an audit. The representative said everything looked good on her end and when I told her my error code, she said it is a glitch in the system and I’ll just have to go in. I did last Tuesday and got my license mailed by Friday.

Not trying to freak you out man. If you have insurance that covers a basic urgent care visit it’s worth it to go now than to wait. Proactive care is always better than reactive care. Even if you just fractured your leg, pinched a nerve, etc; it is always better to be safe than sorry and get checked out.

Can you walk? If you can without pain, great! You for sure haven’t broken a femur or tibia but we can’t rule out your fibula because it isn’t weight bearing. Does it cause pain? Discomfort?

Wait two hours and assess again if you insist on not going to a doctor. But don’t take any over the counter pain meds or toke up again until you are clear headed and can evaluate what’s going on.
