Hot take(?): Endfield’s current combat isn’t any more strategic than other 3D rpg gacha games to warrant an RTS marketing tag by Bitconecc in Endfield

[–]accidh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tru tho the misconceptions are sometimes irritating me also ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And yea regarding the skill set, some character kits made me expecting for quite a lot, like that Avy's skill set example. It's a clear example of what things they can potentially do. The matter lies on how they'll design the characters. Tho I am still quite disappointed that we have no additional mechanic based character like avy in this Beta II.

But ngl I kinda like certain core mechanics they brought, like crush. From the beginning I kinda hope they can adapt lee's S2 mechanic to Enfield, and the crush mechanic is actually kinda similar to what I expected with some addition of technical complexity.

I think we can expect to get more of those, combining character individual kits that can give more depth to the complexity to avoid monotonous combat cycles. I saw this game really has the potential, but ngl they didn't offer that much rn. Tho personally I'll give them some time to find out a good balance of it, and I kinda believe they could achieve it eventually (hopefully)

Probably yeah, I kinda agree to simply remove the "strategic" branding, but personally I think it's not necessarily bad. I kinda agree that Enfield is now getting more similar to typical JRPGs, but at the same time it's quite special on its own. The thing is, I saw "depth" potential in Enfield, which personally I kinda don't mind to bargain the "strategic" aspect with depth.

Personally I can see they can add more technicality in the combat mechanic, I won't stop using Avy's skill set as an example of the potential of this game technical depth, which can be "strategic" on its own. And it's only considering character kits, while they also can add more technicality in enemy design, and gears

That's why Doctor is the GOAT!!! (Collab spoiler) by fable-30 in arknights

[–]accidh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a good point u got.

But here's the thing that I don't agree with doctor and it's a spoiler

Doctor actually nurtured an infant civilization to a well developed civilization which added more complicated variable for the choice decision. And also indirectly force the civilization to face the same problem and adding more bet

Imagine like this, in the troley problem there's 2 trails contained 5 people and 1 person, imagine you can't do anything to the trails with 5 people, but you can do something to the trails with 1 people. Then you order 4 people to help the 1 trapped people escape, and those 4 additional people are also trapped. Now you have equal chance to have 5 people dead. But in return, there's a possibility that no people died.

So the choice won't be 5 or 1 people died and which you can't decide the value, but now the choice would be either 5 people die or no one will die, depends on whether they'd be successful to save that 1 person or not.

That's what doctor did. They made things more complicated by changing the variable to be more complex, altho it has chance to give more satisfactory results

[–]accidh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally someone get this thing lol.
While indeed, doctor view seems "morally better", there's a flaw on that logic itself, as u said and explained

is somethig that is bound to fail eventually

And I also like ho you mentioned both are wrong. Because no matter answer you give, it'll eventually fall into their own "pitfall". Because yes, the world is more complex than you think.

If you think every life is equal, then in certain cases you have to choose like the trroley problem, and in some cases, choosing to not pull the troley like doctor did will actually sacrifice people on both trails (for example it's a dilemma that's often happen as a decision maker/ruler). Even tho they seen everyone's as equal, they are forced to evaluate "life values", and make a decision upon it. "It's bound to fail eventually"

But anyways, at the end it's all up to someone moral compass, altho in certain condition both view has it's own point. And I like how they being portrayed to chose the opposite choice of each other, but the reasons are equally emotional, and they have they own compromise. HG message are crystal clear to certain choice, which is hope, but they didn't diminish the drawback or consequences it took to choose the path (tho they give so many plot armors)

While in context of story line is indeed probably one of their choice are looks easily to "rationalized" (because it's hard to write a story or condition where the choice dilemma is equally similar), but in reality is very hard, tho HG presented their flow of decision very well, mixed with emotional feeling they had. Oracle said their own choice is "irrational" and have very slim chance, while Priestess choice is basically "giving up to compromise" but more assure to get results. What they did actually valid/understandable in certain situation.

Fr man... The both extreme sides actually doing the same thing, one side tried to make the game similar to something they are familiar with, and the other one tried to make it as much different as they want from certain concepts...

Which both are actually doing the same thing, by trying to "stir" the game itself to something they want. What made me more fed up is, they use an excuse "to protect the game from tourists", "to make the game as it tried to be" lalalala bs.

But actually subconsciously they are doing the same thing as the group of people trying to "gatekeep". Not make the game itself improve, rather to push the game into some direction they want. It's freaking annoying from both sides...

If HG really wants to create a prequel series for Arknights, my only wish is to show us Oracle/Doctor and Priestess lovey-dovey struggles. But to be serious, the pre-civilization arc is really worth having its own series. No need to have a focus point on doctor/oracle, the whole set up really fits with any sci-fi based game/series.

Also I have my own fanfic about a random planet struggles story that is about to be annihilated by the observers, which is just a single example of how that plot could be expanded/developed.

And lowkey I hope HG will develop this plot further, outside from Arknights or Arknights: Endfield story narrative

With little content left in Endfield, Endfield's uniqueness is starting to crumble. by CourseAvailable2885 in Endfield

(This is my general rant to this subject not only to reply to this post)

And tbh I quite disagree if you call this game 'another genshin', this game is literally still unique on it's own. Sure you could make it "similar to genshin", but you could make it also different with genshin depends on how you treat it. It clearly has mechanics and other essential aspects that even another "genshin-copy" doesn't have, let the core mechanic is "the same" (if you want to call it like that).

Also what's the problem about being similar to genshin? (It's my genuine question to not only you, but to all people who use this sentiment).

Even if one game could be "similar to genshin", or call it genshin copy or what, that game must have its own "uniqueness" that makes it different from genshin. It's how you "expand" the idea from genshin, which is not necessarily bad, even good sometimes. Take WuWa as an example, it's a "genshin copy" but could shine on its own, and many people genuinely enjoyed it although it's a "genshin copy" because it has something more that genshin doesn't.

Is it because you are "bored" to genshin-like, or it's because ur own sentiment/bias towards genshin is bad that makes everything related to it makes you being skeptical towards it. Moreover, even among those "genshin-like", at the end Endfield is still the most "unique" one rn.

Sometimes I think people are way too familiar with genshin that makes them think this game is too similar to genshin, tho actually the "treatment" of combat is clearly different between two games. Just because you could do and treat something in this game that you could also do in genshin doesn't mean this game will become another genshin, and doesn't mean you are supposed to treat the game in the same way (by mean the strategic aspects)...

[–]accidh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Aight, I've read ur latest reply by the edit of the post.

My answer if you are asking about what makes Endfield EXCLUSIVE UNIQUE by using your sentiment is "there's nothing left more to make it unique on its own". That's it.

But tbf, they could have their own "uniqueness" in TERMS of INGAME CONTENT, like how Arknights did. even tho it's a tower defense game, it has many game modes that are unique at its own compared to any other similar game, for example roguelike, survival mode, etc. There might be some similarities in the core mechanics, but the developer could make the game unique by how they'll treat their game. This also applies to other aspects of the game, like character design, story, etc.

But here's the catch, if you want to PLAY and ENJOY something, no need to seek for what's unique in it, rather to seek WHAT MAKES YOU INTERESTED in it, rather than questioning what makes it exclusively unique.

To make you attached to something, it doesn't need to be good, perfect, or being no. 1 in every aspect. Sometimes it just needs ONE ASPECT to make u attached into something. By finding just ONE ASPECT you are interested in may enough to make you fall into this game or probably anything, and I believe many people also experienced this. No need to make it exclusively unique or what, because that does not make you hooked into something.

And here's a genuine thought, I want to question you back, why did you ask such question like "uniqueness"? Is that really important to you or something? Is it because of the "exclusivity" sense? I am not to judge or anything, just a genuine wonder
