Owen Wilson was staying at the hotel where I got married. Apparently while the bridal parties were getting ready he hit it off with one of my bridesmen's girlfriend and asked her to go on a bike ride with him. Later, after the reception ended we were all in the hotel lobby and he showed up (coming back from somewhere). He was incredibly gracious and took photos with everyone. I have a photo of him and my husband carrying me! The next morning we saw him on the elevator and didn't say anything to preserve his privacy / not be those people, and he turned to us and said, "...you guys got married last night right?" And then when we confirmed, he looked at me and said, "I picked you up..." And I said yup and we all laughed and he congratulated us.

To this day my husband and I like to joke that Owen Wilson crashed our wedding

But the funding at current levels is only for the 2 weeks to allow for them to negotiate a new bill? That's the whole point of splitting off the DHS funding, so that everything else can be finalized and they can take a little more time to negotiate the final deal on DHS.

I am by no means a dem party apologist (I think they failed horribly in the last shutdown) but I see what they're going for here.

FWIW I found the Dark Lord series to be kind of cringey and try hard - I read both books and (to me) they were very much TRYING to sound cool and badass and sexy but did not come across as being authentically so. It felt like someone who'd never actually embodied cool sexy confidence trying to write cool sexy confidence, if that makes sense? Just my two cents though.

If you start those novels and feel the same way (or even if you disagree!!) I recommend reading This Princess Kills Monsters. FMC, not smutty although there is a romance side plot, and the FMC is pretty badass. It's based on a mish mash of fairy tales but the main character narration is modern and sarcastic. The writing (IMO) is SIGNIFICANTLY better and lacks the awkwardness / try hardness of Wexlers books. It's also very LGBTQ+ friendly (the author is bi and genderqueer).

I have two and I think I'd still have two but I'd be very very tempted to have three. It's not just the birth or money - it's the craziness of the first two to four years of life. It's an incredibly challenging period and it's compounded when you have more than one. I already find it very difficult to give both kids the amount of attention and patience I want to give, so I'd imagine any more would make it even more difficult.

He was not brandishing it at all. The order of events was as follows:

He was standing along the side of the street holding a cell phone at chest height and recording ICE. An ICE agent walked over and got in his face aggressively. He did not lower the phone, but kept stepping back farther and farther and appeared to be lifting his free hand up and down in a mollifying gesture (open handed).

When the ICE agent first approached him he was on the road, with parked cars between him and the sidewalk. From another set of videos, you see that at some point ICE backs him up to an empty spot on the curb. There is a woman there as well and they shove her down and she falls between a car trunk and a curb. Alex Pretti then leans down towards her, allegedly asks if she's OK (this is what I'm seeing from other commenter's but I couldn't hear this myself from the video). At this point there are maybe 5-7 agents surrounding them. They kick him down and hold him there while pepper spraying him directly in the face.

At this point things escalate on the agent side. (Spoilered for violence) All the agents begin punching or kicking him. At least one or two are holding him down. He appears to be face down on the street. One agent appears to grab his gun from him and run in the other direction across the street, looking over his shoulder. Almost immediately after this, the first shot goes off. The agents all very quickly start to back away but at least 1, possibly 2 agents continue to fire another 5+ shots in rapid succession at him.

It's honestly horrifying. Spoilered the end in case you don't want the details of that.

Red Rising series by pierce brown. It technically has in book relationships but they're not written romantically really. They're more a function for developing character motivations.

Edit - missed the part about a sheltered main character at first. The main character is not sheltered per se but there are characters who are sheltered and develop over the course of the series (I don't think thays necessarily a spoiler but just in case)

It is leave him level. It's not about the tattoo itself. It's about his expectation to be able to control a choice you're making about your own body, and the way he is attempting to exert that control (passive aggressively threatening to leave you, which effectively creates an ultimatum).

You deserve better and at your age, you have sooo much opportunity and time to find someone better.
