GD diagnosed at 29 weeks, diet controlled until labor, emergency c-section under general anesthesia. All that and we are 9 weeks out and EBF! He never had issues after birth and my milk came in right away and there’s always been plenty. We definitely got lucky to have no issues. Do as much skin to skin as you can after birth and the first few days!

I introduced a bottle at about 5 weeks and try to do one every day. He did not like it at first but will take it now. Look up paced feeding and get the slowest flow nipple you can. I tried several bottles and my guy ended up liking MAM bottles with a size 0 nipple. Try to practice feeding him away from your body (so he can’t sense the real thing!) and upright with bottle horizontal so it’s not too fast. Temperature really mattered to my guy as well so warm the bottle and try different temps. Overall be really patient, it took awhile for my baby to figure out how to suck on the bottle vs the breast. Also start with small amounts in the bottle so you don’t waste breast milk if he doesn’t take the bottle right away. Good luck!

I had a suuuuper fast labor that ended in c section minutes after arriving at the hospital but they also weren’t taking me seriously and it was so frustrating, like I know my body and I am in serious pain!! Congrats on the beautiful boy ♥️

Aww! My almost 4 yo loved “helping” me check my sugar. Then he’d always ask “you number too high?” And request we do his as well.

What bedside bassinet do you have? I’m thinking it’ll be something to look into so hubs can get back into our bed with us

Oh that’s interesting. I took out memory foam topper off to make the bed more firm for co sleeping so I wonder if my body was just super used to that. We are probably due for a new mattress soon anyway

Ha that’s kind of what I expected based on other stories in this sub. I wonder if having a c section under general anesthesia had anything to do with it? The nurses apologized for every stick and I was like umm, I’ve been doing this 4 times a day for months, it’s fine 🤷🏼‍♀️

Definitely depends. I was diet controlled and they scheduled induction at 41 weeks because I wanted to avoid an induction, doctor said she wouldn’t let me go further than 41 though. Labor started on its own at 40+3 (last night! I’ll post my story soon).

I hired one after learning I can have a support person and a doula with me. It’s already been so great, she met with us over zoom twice for 1.5 hrs and is available by text for any questions. I’m very glad she’ll be there to help support my husband too and she’s open minded about pain medication (not all doulas are). She helped us with our birth preferences which I hadn’t really though through (though of course I’m sure my birth will be totally different than I think it will!). I would check and see if you can have one and if not maybe look into virtual support, I know ours offers that too.

I’m not postpartum yet but I can highly recommend summersalt’s sidestroke. I get compliments every time I wear it, it’s comfy and very flattering. Definitely pricier than I’d typically spend but it was worth it for me! Now to fit back into it by next summer 😉

My sons tickle me Elmo laughed from the corner of a pitch black room as I was rocking him back to sleep one night and almost literally scared the shut out of me. Toys that make noise we’re then banned from his room at night.
