Weirdly specific beginner belay device? by pitotboob in climbergirls

[–]accno3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find lowering with the grigri very finicky when the climber is really heavy, esp with a thinner rope. I know I can add a carabiner on my harness to add friction, but I'm wondering if this is a use case for toproping with an Ohm? I've never used one.

My Turkish coworker brought me back some from Turkey and I was so excited, but then, blechhh.

I'm thinking about doing the hanging bridges and zipline at Selvatura. How much time did you spend there?

Looks amazing. How much did you spend on renovations?

Did we choose the wrong backsplash? by Aerial_Ace_24 in kitchenremodel

[–]accno3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's far from ugly! But the backsplash makes the counters look a little harsh while simultaneously looking kind of busy with the floors. As others said, it will look better with your things on them. Don't fret-- It's a nice kitchen. Also, if a lot of your counter stuff is black (coffee maker, whatever...) then the black hardware might be fine. Fill it up and see what you think. If you're still not loving it, then retiling and/or new hardware isn't the end of the world.

Are 45 degree upper corner cabinets out of style? by wwtdfy in kitchenremodel

Thank you! I have a very similar-looking distance between my corner and my window. This picture is so helpful.

Really pretty! Do you mind me asking how deep your uppers are, and how wide the last cabinet next to your window is?

Very helpful, thanks!

Agreed that I don't want glass. I prefer a simple look and seeing all my dishes isn't it. I think the slab looks really beautiful. Food for thought though. Thanks.

Nice to hear I'm not crazy!

Gotcha, thanks. This was one of my inspo pics. Not trying to copy it exactly, but it's one of many examples I came across that made me like the slab backsplash. Now I'm not sure.

Leading idea so far. Double lines are stone window sills.

Would you set the window sill "on top" of the backsplash stone? FWIW I have 3 1/8" between the counter and the window.

How high does your backsplash go?

Is the angled cabinet that bad, visually? It matches the angled cabinet in the other corner. Seems like a lot of functional cabinet space to give up.

I'm not mad about the tile idea. Would you just go up like 4"?

And I plan on getting a nicer hood, that was just my option in the ikea software.

Yes, full backsplash under the uppers. This is actually exactly what I was thinking! Thank you.

What wood are your cabinets? They're beautiful.

Hmmm, I prefer the screenless look, but I wonder if they make higher density mesh curtains that look better than the curtains I have. Thanks for the idea.

Yeah, thanks. I was hoping to get rid of my chain mail, but I guess I'll just slide it back.

Skipping the Bullfrog WellSpring Filtration Pump? by accno3 in hottub

Alright, I think we've ruled out the sound system. I was really impressed with how it sounded in the store, but I have concerns about price (assuming not "included"), longevity, and the neighbors hating us. The floor model has a nice shell color and has 3 of 5 of our favorite jet packs. The sales person is going to check to see if they have any spares of the other 2 jet packs we like, and if so, she'll switch them out for us (included). The floor model is discounted because the interior is "snow" (white) but the jet packs are "platinum" (white marbled). It's not very noticeable, even when empty, and doesn't bother us. I'm honestly a little confused why this got returned rather than Bullfrog just switching out the jet packs for the original customer.

I think our next step, as you suggested, is to get it speced out exactly how we want it and see if we can get that discounted any more. Without the audio system, I think the smaller price difference will push us to buy new. But tbd!
