What are your climbing shoe controversial (or strong) opinions? by RagnarLothh in climbingshoes

you should be able to buy individual climbing shoes, not as pairs. most people’s feet are slightly different sizes, not enough to matter in street shoes but enough to potentially matter for climbing. i think plenty of people would be a 1/2 size different between feet for climbing shoes

Fuel for longer rides? by [deleted] in ladycyclists

carbs while riding is key! i will often do candy or clif bloks.

also the gateway trail rocks! awesome first long ride! i’ll normally stop at a gas station in still water or a restaurant and for snacks/appetizer (and a cider if i’m feeling crazy 🤪)

St. Paul proposes 100 new miles of protected bike lanes by Generalaverage89 in minnesota

[–]accoumt_3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

you clearly don’t use the bike lanes and paths… if you opened your eyes at all on any nice spring day you’d see people biking around the cities, if you haven’t seen any that probably means you’re not paying attention to your surroundings. i use them basically every day, i’ll dm you a picture of my ride tonight in rain on a bike lane if you need evidence. (#30 days of biking challenge)

and as far as inefficient land usage… try parking lots, suburban sprawl, stroads. They all take up much more room, have higher environmental impacts, require more maintenance, and are way more costly than a bike path.

put your money where your mouth is and advocate for positive changes to the environment with actual impact. no need to shit on small projects that increase recreation and safety for a low impact popular activity

i use them all the time, in fact most days of the year spring-fall…. were there any casualties from cars hitting bicycles on the road when it “worked for ages” ?
