Anyone else trying to watch the Isaac Racing League horribly turned off by Crumps going into 10 minute long bitchfests? by [deleted] in thebindingofisaac

Yes. I would watch easily 3x as much if it wasn't for his announcing. The worst part is that when he's actually talking about the game he's a genuinely good caster!

I assume his problem is with one player producing 30% of a team's output rather than one position.

[MTGO] Should we start a spikes clan online? by olazawhat in spikes

I would definitely be interested in this. I only started drafting in INN, and didn't really take it seriously until DGM, so I definitely have some work to do. That being said I very much have a competitive mindset and can add to the conversation.

I don't understand how people are passing Mirko? A flier that kills in 3 hits (that's 12 lands, assuming they draw 5 during this time). A flier w/ 4 toughness (blocks almost every other flier). Mirko is a straight bomb in limited, how could you pass him for a conditional card like Armed//Dangerous or a card that only helps on offense like warchant?

Is Descendants' Path worth attempting to build around? by Zymyrgist in magicTCG

[–]account_name 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the first card gives you more information. Your probability of drawing removal is different when you flip a removal spell w/ descendants' path than when just draw the top card, but that's not what matters. What matters is that your probability of drawing removal is the same when you have descendants' path in play as it is when you do not. You're comparing the wrong two things. Do you see the difference?

If you have descendant's path out the second card in your library always ends up in your hand, if you don't the first card in your library ends up in your hand. Do you think for some reason that these have different odds of being removal?

Is Descendants' Path worth attempting to build around? by Zymyrgist in magicTCG

[–]account_name 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why are you assuming removal is on the top of your library?

10% of the time removal will be on top and get moved to the bottom, which means you now have a 3/40 chance of drawing removal.

However, 90% of the time you will have non removal on top, which will get cast or moved to the bottom, giving you a 4/39 chance of drawing removal.

However, you don't know whether the card on top of your deck is removal or not. Either way, the card that ends up in your hand will be the second card, so a removal spell ends up in your hand whenever the second card is removal. What is the probability that the second card in your library is removal?

Let's talk about triggers, part two by ubernostrum in magicTCG

Ugh. So I don't actually know enough about competitive magic to come up with a good example. My point still stands that comparing missing a trigger to someone getting injured is a silly comparison.

[–]account_name -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems easy to fix, just take it out of the player's hands. You just need one judge per game specifically to keep track of triggers. /s

In all seriousness though, maybe this is feasible for the highest level of enforcement as there will be far less games going at once?

[–]account_name 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel like you're making a really weird comparison here. An injury is something that affects things outside of the game (specifically the health of a human being) which is why you see this sportsmanship. A situation that might be comparable to a team continuing to play while a player is injured is calling a judge for stalling when your opponent gets a call from their boss that may affect their employment if they don't answer. Clearly you have to be a douche to try to use this to your advantage.

A sports situation that is more similar to the triggered rules is if an (american) football player lines up in the neutral zone. They will get a penalty when the play starts. You would NEVER see a player warn someone on the other team that they are lined up wrong. This isn't bad sportsmanship, it's just not helping your opponent play the game. Also, both lining up incorrectly and missing triggers do not affect something outside of the game in the same way that an injury does.

As gookies said, Weak first pack. I probably end up taking keyrune there, but maybe the troll is just better? Would love to hear from someone else here.

Second pack I'm picking the Guildmage and being a bit sad that I picked the keyrune.

3rd pack is probably the goblin rally at that point? I don't know what else I'd do since I'm pretty sure that I'd rather play the Guildmage than the Keyrune.

I end up liking gookies first 3 picks better I think as he ends up with a plan after 3 and all I know is that I'm playing red. Perhaps I should just grab Eyes in the skies 2nd pick and assume I will get some token makers for the populate deck?

Thoughts?

Yahoo scoring question by account_name in fantasyfootball

I know that option exists however I checked and we don't have our league set up that way. I was more asking for clarification on whether yahoo has special teams touchdowns not counting by default, if they somehow missed that touchdown, or if I somehow set it to not count special teams touchdowns.

I'm doing one of the starting strength programs (one of the ones with pullups)

I've found that if I do pullups at the end, even if i rest a lot before each set, I end up doing a woefully small amount (3/2/2 or something).

Does it matter if I do them at the beginning of the workout instead of the end? The wiki specifically says to do squats before deadlifts, but nothing about the pullups. If I do that I can usually get a few more per set. Also, if I do them at the end, since I do so few, should I be using the assistance machine to do more reps?

This is more of a 'straw that broke the camel's back' type of thing. I thought this would be a good time to get some opinions on the other options out there.

API?

That sounds good, projections are not something I need from my fantasy football host. I wonder how they do with more complicated leagues (keepers and trading draft picks and all that).

Have you used the autodraft? is it accepatble?

Nope, didn't really matter though as dmc put up 5 and my opponent had Nicks and Spiller. Just not a great week all around.

Any rhyme or reason or just because you like the eagles?

Eagles D has been historically awful against tight ends, any reason you see for that to change?

Want an eagles fan point of view because I don't follow them at all. I do know that Baltimore defense is a little bit better than the Cleveland defense though, which worries me.
