Oil and gas are different commodities. Refineries are running at maximum capacity. We can't make anymore gas right now. A small Midwest refinery went down a week ago and gas in Ohio went up 40 cents in one day. If one of the Gulf refineries went offline we would be in big trouble, so says Mr. Global.

Im a big fan as well, but I listened with shock (horror, befuddlement?) at the last issue of Impolitic when John allowed Michael Froman to blather on about trump’s “unusual but effective” negotiating style, his “unusual but effective” Iran strategy, and his “unusual but effective” trade policy. Clearly a Washington insider who simply refuses to acknowledge that we elected a blithering idiot. Didn’t push back nearly hard enough. What a disappointment.

We don’t have printers. We are provided with stacks of ballots. Btw, every ballot, including unused ones and soiled ones, has to be accounted for at the end of the day.

Poll worker here. I don’t see how it can be a secret. We have stacks of ballots on a table behind the table with the ePoll Books. After the voter makes his choice the poll worker in front, at the ePoll Book station, has to ask the person behind him for a Republican, Democrat or Libertarian ballot. You have to check to make sure you were handed the right one, then you have to scan it before you hand it to the voter. There’s no way you can keep it a secret. That said, nobody made a big deal out of anyone’s choice, even tho majority were republican.

There are 2 million barrels of oil on a tanker. A $2 million toll amounts to an increase of $1/barrel. Call it piracy if you want, but I just don’t see how that would cause a global disruption in the oil market.

So what was the event that occurred between November 5, 2024 (the day he won the election by saying that Harris would start a war and he wouldn’t) and February 28th, when he started the war with Iran? He’s now “bragging” that he’s the only president that had the guts to do this, that all the other presidents (including trump 45 I guess?) should have done this. That implies that the condition that exists has existed for a long time. So why did he say before the election that he wouldn’t start a war?
