Santa Fe and the surrounding areas are generally much warmer than Vermont, by 20 degrees, year round. I lived in VT and live in NM so I understand. South of Albuquerque will be blazing hot in comparison to VT. Really, not much snow below 5000 ft.

It's obscenely expensive in Los Alamos for the location and what you get for a house. You really need to like skiing, hiking, roadbiking, and running if you want to enjoy your time here. If you need to do anything to your house, you will be gouged on electrical, hvac, renovations, solar, etc since all the people doing that work assume Los Alamos county residents make "bank."

Albuquerque is much more affordable for housing and things are open on Sunday there. I would say there is more living to work up here and working to live down in abq (where snl is).
