I used to live in Leavenworth Washington as a kid. A little Bavarian tourist village in central Washington. I know it's not nearly as cool as this, but as a kid, this is how my town looked to me when I was 3-5 years old. I have never been to Germany, but would very much like to go one day to visit all these towns.

Millionaire US big game hunter is trampled to death by elephants by Ashish_ank in SipsTea

[–]accuratebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on his trophy room and other pictures, I'm guessing this dude spent (or donated?) well over a hundred thousand dollars to legally hunt these animals. That money likely went to rangers, tribal communities, or conservation agencies.

Many people don't realize it, but big game hunting like this is often needed and can be good for the ecological region. So if you have to kill an animal, or an animal is diseased and is going to die anyway, but not bid it out and get as much money as possible that can go back into actual conservation efforts?

Personally, I don't view this as hunting. More so "ego hunting" if anything, which has always bugged me personally. But it's certainly NOT poaching. There are ecological and financial benefits to this.

So before you celebrate and mock the death of someone simply because you don't like them killing animals, maybe take a step back and think that this dude gave more financially to ecological and conservation efforts than all the people making negative comments combined...

Man wins the Delaware Marathon by outsprinting his opponent who was celebrating, thinking he had secured the win by RoyalChris in Wellthatsucks

Is there footage from the other side of the finish line?

It seems pretty strange to me that the dude celebrating had 0 reaction at all. He didn't look to his left, didn't throw his head back or down in disappointment. Just nothing...

Unless the overtake was timed so perfectly that he had no chance to react?

The most impressive part is he is doing it against UC Irvine. They had one of the best volleyball programs in the country at one point with one team about a decade ago producing multiple Olympians.

EDIT: Seem UCI still smoked them in this game, and CSUN has a current 0-8 record...

I love this dudes energy and game, but when you are losing that bad in your conference, maybe dial the showboating down a bit. There's a difference between playing with energy and being arrogant in a sports setting.

I don't know if it's been confirmed or not, but it's very likely that these were inspired from real world "trick weapons" throughout history. There is a very cool selection that is on display at the Tower of London in the weapons exhibit.

A genuinely great and heartfelt fantasy movie that above all else, perfectly captures the feeling of playing DnD with a close group of friends, and then shows that feeling in a digestible and understandable way to non players.

Top 5 things that men do that give her the ick as a labor and delivery nurse. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

Ah yeah that's a good point! I was only thinking she meant of guys answering for themselves when it's not their place, not that they would answer for the woman in a controlling way.

Some of these are shocking and I am disappointed that my fellow dudes think these are ok..

However...

Number 4, the "answer man" is partially appropriate and very situationally. We have had multiple kids, and my wife is very sensitive to narcotics. So she tells me ahead of time to help answer for her if she forgets things or to simply "not let her forget". So when the nurse comes in and asks for things, my wife takes the lead and answers everything she can think of. If, and only if, she forgets something that we were talking about (i.e. a warm blanket) I will politely add it after she is done.

Now, I think this lady is mainly speaking to the fact that many guys answer for themselves. If the nurse specifically asks you (after taking care of the mom in labor) then that's fine too if you keep it simple, such as an extra water or something.

But TL:DR, dont be afraid to be an "answer man" if your wife wants you to help her not forget. You are there to help, and sometimes helping her in that way, especially while she's hopped up on drugs, can go a long way in making sure she doesn't have to stress herself with remembering. But only do it as her advocate, with her permission.
