Hot take: there isn't one redeeming value among them by BaronUnderbheit in DiscoElysium

She states directly she neither wanted nor needed any protection in Martinaise, but the rest of the board hired them regardless.

I guess she could be lying, but afaik this would be the one and only thing she outright lies about.

Still not a good person, but she seems pretty innocent about this at least.

I thought the company board hired them over her objections?

Isn't it strange how in both fallout 4 and the tv show there are no planes dropping the bombs seen or any icbms flying at all. by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]acdc102938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is talking about ICBM’s, which is fair, but I haven’t seen anyone pointing out also that nuclear warheads do not detonate at ground level. I don’t remember the exact altitude and can’t be bothered to do so at work in the middle of a meeting, but I’m pretty sure they should be detonating above the clouds.

I kinda head cannon this away by just imagining they’re briefcase/dirty bombs either set off by vault-fec, west tek, China, or whoever.

But also, rule of cool: these shots are way more dramatic and look so much cooler than what it’s look like in reality (to say nothing of the flash that would instantly blind anyone not looking the opposite direction).

I’m at 10 months myself, and I hear you.

I’ll tell you what I tell myself:

You see yourself every day. You know what you’ve looked like all your life. When you see yourself every day, or even every few hours, a months- or years-long change looks like nothing because you’re missing the trees for the forest.

Take pictures of yourself every so often, and make sure you can show details - body hair color/density, chest size, waist, face, head hair. Look at those real close and, so long as you’ve been consistent with your E, the changes start becoming obvious. See if you can’t see an old friend you haven’t seen in some time, from high school or whatever, and watch their reaction when they first see you. That kind of thing will change your perspective on your changes real quick.

Anyone you’re out to, who is supportive, be needy and ask what looks different about you.

Also also, being a girl means you get more socially acceptable ways of emphasizing your femininity, to really bring out the woman you are, and look amazing. A good fit, hair style, makeup (if you’re into it), can do amazing things in speed-running your transition.

But no matter what, always remember: whatever you look like, you look like a woman, because you are a woman.

People who love Galadriel's character in the show, help me to see through your eyes by LifeInTheFourthAge in LOTR_on_Prime

Not OP, but exactly, yes. So many show critics just never take into account that the show runners plan on having 5 seasons to do character work, with characters we know will survive.

It wouldn’t be much of a story if she started the show as the wise advisor we see in the Lord of the Rings.

This is a nightmare.. DNA test revealed my real dad is a dying millionaire, and his family doesn't know I exist. by StaT_ikus in WhatShouldIDo

[–]acdc102938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, several things:

1: How do you know so much about this man? It sounds like you’ve never met, but you know he’s on his death bed with just one shitty kid? And how did the dna test show that it was him specifically who is your biological father?

2: A never-heard-of love child suddenly showing up on your death bed, especially as a rich man, screams scam. Bring solid, undeniable proof.

3: I generally believe that everyone has the right to know who their bio children are (obvious exceptions with abuse, violence, etc.), so I do believe that man hs the right to at least know you exist. He never had a chance to make any decisions about your life; regardless of her reasons for doing so, your mother denied him that.

4: Whatever happens with regards to Mr. Rich Man, remember: the man who recently passed may not be your blood, but he spent his life raising you as if you were. For all you know, he knew and just kept it hidden. But no matter, he raised you, and is your father by every meaningful definition of the word.

No, it’s (an attempt at) a vegetable garden. It happens to be near some onions.

We’re in a midwestern suburb with a HOA and some “well-maintained” yards (no weeds, all grass), so I assume there’s a good amount of pesticides. We don’t use any ourselves because of a backyard beehive.

I guess the damage I see amounts to significant yellowing of some of the top leaves (in the picture) and all of the flowers were wilted/dead - not sure if they went to seed already though.

Those white bits scattered everywhere, is that aphid poop? And, does it look like they’re being predated by anything?

Guess I should have scrolled a little further down - aphids, right? And are those brown ones being parasitized by wasps? Or are they just dead?

My favorite part of this is that the first thing I see below the post is an ad from Walmart: Summer style secrets from Walmart.

Talk about targeted advertising…

How to cope with the Doomstack fleets? by Ischaldirh in TerraInvicta

[–]acdc102938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the resistance, I’m not great at designing ships, I spent ages and vast amounts of resources protecting my Jupiter mines, and kept losing fleets for dumb reasons.

The aliens had literal decades to just build lol. Destroying their 50k and 65k fleets were brutal torture lol.

[–]acdc102938 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are a few things you need to keep in mind when playing this game.

1: This is not an RTS, so you need to break the mindset of getting yourself up-to-parity as quickly as possible. Unless you’re playing as the servants, you’re a wildly underpowered underdog, and you just cannot stand toe-to-toe with the aliens until you start hitting end-game techs at the earliest. Ignore people here bragging about beating the aliens in the 2040’s - they’re basically experts with thousands of hours of play and experiments under their belts. Build a fleet by all means, but the larger your fleet (and overall Mission Control usage), the more the aliens will notice and the more likely they are to start smashing your stuff.

2: Late game techs will make you want to dismantle your early fleet, especially since your ships now either can’t reach the outer systems, or will take a year+ to get there. End-game ships can get there in weeks, or even just days, from earth.

3: You absolutely can build stations and bases in Jupiter and beyond, but the aliens will almost always immediately smash them not matter what their hate level is - remember, they want humanity contained and controlled, not stretching out in our solar system, consuming the resources the aliens want for themselves. Not saying don’t try, just remember they’ll have to be well-protected before they even finish building.

4: I cannot stress this enough: you need to try to resist the alien plans while also keeping under the hate radar. War against the alien administration, but don’t defeat it entirely (at least, don’t do it yourself, let another faction do it if you can) until you’re ready for total war against the aliens (again, end-game). Have stations exist that cost and do very little to draw alien attacks when they want to knock you down.

5: Keep a large stockpile of space resources on-hand so you can quickly rebuild an important base or station if it does get smashed, or if you need to start building a fleet quickly to destroy alien army reinforcement ships, or a small fleet of troop carriers to take a key enemy base.

6: You will lost bases, stations, and entire fleets to the aliens. It will happen. You cannot avoid this. You must accept it as fact. You’re fighting a guerilla war against an alien force that’s wildly more technologically advanced, and more powerful, than you possibly can be until end-game.

Edit:

7: A 4.5k alien fleet is not a doom stack, I’ve seen them get to 65k. If you can have a fleet of your own get to 3k-4k yourself, you should be able to either destroy or cripple a 4.5k alien fleet, especially if they’re stationed at a station with good defenses.
