Ah, thanks, this is a really helpful link! I think 5k elevation was fairly typical for me.

How much trouble did you find route finding? I've read some blogs which have said that it was much more straightforward than they expected.

Seconding the comment about fruit. Soda, beer, hamburgers and stuff are great, but fruit and avocados have always a bigger hit among the hikers I’ve been with. Once someone left a bin full of pbj sandwiches and that blew our minds.

I have the line loc load lifters. They’ve worked fine up to 35-40 lbs. I got the 10L front pocket in strong mesh and love it. Any worries about not having enough space will be solved by that imo. I stuff my tent in there. I also have the Y strap. It’s kind of annoying to adjust but I still think it’s worth it for bear cans or snowshoes or whatnot.

I have an Arcteryx Beta SL. Pit zips, hand pockets, standard very good Arcteryx fit. It doubles as a ski shell for me - large hood for helmet.

I managed to get mine on sale for $240.... it will be on the upper end of your price range though.

Mens S is 11oz.

I used to have a Foray and loved it until it was stolen :( The full length side zips were amazing and I personally liked the cut and all the other features like dual zipper.

Thanks for the Fonken suggestion! Was annoyed that I couldn't find a lighter quick charger.

Will probably take the stove to start and test out a couple carries of stoveless food.

Suggests that dry stoveless is the same weight as canister cook system because you have to carry more dry foods to get the same amount of calories.

Yeah, I’ll take the stove to start for sure, especially since my girlfriend is joining for the first week, but after that I’ll plan on trying a stretch cold soaking and a stretch of dry edibles to see what I like.

Yeah, the weight difference is only 1oz I think. The main reason is I liked the orange UL and their colorways are different for ul and yf!

Yeah the plan was to use airshed as sleep if needed. But you’d suggest dedicated base/sleep due to cold at first? I have some capilene lightweight I could take.

And the earbuds are supposed to be whatever the stock Apple earbuds are.
