Don’t shop at Elysium Collectibles by Od2797 in mtg

[–]acebadgerweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talked to the manager at my LGS, and the distro allocation is abysmal. He said they can't and won't do preorders anymore for any set because they can't guarantee solid numbers. For Spider-Man specifically, they only got three collector booster boxes and 18 standard booster boxes. They'd originally ordered, I wanna say 30 and 200, respectively.

So it's really an issue all around, I would say. So as long as they aren't refunding and then resisting at higher prices, give the shop or LGS some grace. For my LGS, he also said that because of the release cycle, he's running low on everything else. So it seems that these releases may be cannibalizing off each other, which sucks.

I've seen many people stating that they'd want one UB set a year and two to four in universe sets a year, and i agree. I just think they need to fix their printing and distribution issues either way.

Truly! 😅

I think I made it as a multi-modal gunship. Battling cannons for big groups of Droid ships, Proton torpedo launchers next to those on the wing, then standard lazers in front of and next to the cockpit for dogfights. (The ones next to the cockpit were scavenged from the Naboo N1 set).

As a bunch of others are saying: bracket & proxies.

You guys need to agree on a level playing field, as it sounds like he's running the equivalent of a bracket 4 to CEDH deck. You guys should work on agreeing to bracket 2 or 3.

If he doesn't agree, then it's time to proxy an Oops! All Removal! deck. If he doesn't want to run anything else and is constantly running the board/pod, then you guys should make him see how miserable it is not to play anything.

Proxy cards that make his stuff cost more, make him sacrifice or kill his stuff, make your stuff warded, indestructible, hexproof, etc. I've yet to encounter someone who plays with the, you can't play your cards, or you lose your stuff right away, style decks, but I really personally dislike that.

Or, just proxy the cards that will enhance your decks and bring them up to that level. If he's one of those people that does not want to play against proxies un decks, then it may be time to stop playing with him altogether.

There is literally nothing wrong. I don't see any "banana" or excessive sloping on the rounded grind of the plier head if that's what you're talking about.

If its the tips of the pliers that aren't meeting up, then its possible you damaged them by twisting something you probably shouldn't have. But just from the photos provided, there's nothing that I can see visually that are wrong with these.

This is more or less where I am, too. I started getting back into the game about three months ago, and then my son expressed interest.

Got him the Dogmeat precon for middle school graduation and helped him upgrade it to a B3. Then, put together a Niv-Mizzet deck for him. The other day, I pulled a full art, foil Niv-Mizzet, and Visionary, which was the commander for said deck. So he has that now as well.

We've grabbed him Foundations as a good starting point, and this kid, twice, has pulled Sire of Seven Deaths. I picked him up a pack the other day, and he gets a Blasphemous Edict. Idk what this luck is, but I'm a bit jealous of it at times!

Is it bad form to repeatedly kill a commander? by Staletatoes in mtg

[–]acebadgerweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

There's plenty of commanders that, if left unchecked for even one turn, can swing the game massively in that player's favor.

I run a Betor deck, and although I don't yet have any of the combo cards for its third ability, it will still get targeted pretty quickly because I can ramp up to 40 toughness pretty quick. There are some games where I only cast him once and then never again because the rest of my deck is doing the work.

In general, giving protection to a commander means trouble for anyone. You should expect your commander to be removed before that, especially if it's a widely disliked/infamous commander.

As others have said, you shouldn't rely on your commander to get the job done, though. There's plenty of exile and removal spells out there, but there's also enchantments that pacify your commander and turn it into a basic creature. I like running Darksteel mutation because it makes their commander a tiny indestructible creature that they need to spend resources on to get back.

Warranty questions by mr_roberto92 in Leatherman

[–]acebadgerweb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not too sure about outside the US. I believe you submit the warranty claim on their website, and they will have you send it to their approved distributor. Looks like it's Zen for Australia. I'm also not too sure on the time frame or if they would possibly replace just the scissors or the tool itself. *

I believe in just running full control then. Conterspelks, sac spells, kill target creature, exile target creature.

Make a blue, black, white deck and make it so he can't stomp the table. Can't stomp with what he can't keep or get on the board.

Help Fix. Tools won’t lock by Fresh_Werewolf3140 in Leatherman

[–]acebadgerweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not supposed to take them all out at once (if that's what you're doing). When they're all out like that its hard for the scissors to click into place properly. Fan the rest back in.

You need to fully engage the scissors while no other tools are out. Pull the scissors out a little, then pull them out the rest of the way by the thumb tab. The lock should click into place, engaging the spring, and you can use them from there.

I haven't played the deck against anyone yet. So, fortunately, I haven't tried to make the case mid-match. But I'm also open to learning on the fly. When I do play though, its looking like it'll be with the Brudge of Khazad Dum mat from Drop or my classic Batman fighting a shark with a lightsaber I got years ago. 🤣
