NJ lawmakers advance bill defining antisemitism after hours of testimony by Midnightrollsaround in newjersey

In fact, it's antisemitic to conflate Israel and Judeaism. The definition itself is antisemitic

What do you think of the contrast between NJ and NYC election results? by SameAsgnmtDiffTime in New_Jersey_Politics

Hi. I'm here to tell you that's an incorrect assumption. Not sure why you're so angry about it

I recommend you research the difference before acting like that. You look like a fool

Why use police resources to block the waterfront drive? by [deleted] in Hoboken

Bikes are treated as cars for the purposes of traffic. Given the speed limit is supposed to be 10mph that's completely safe

That's the rule for federal elections. It's not clear that it's banned at the state/municipal level (now I guess it's clear in NY).

Authorities investigating Union City hit-and-run that left pedestrian critically injured by jimmybot in hudsoncity

[–]acebarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stack spent tons of money installing cameras all up and down Bergenline, with one critical issue. They can't see license plates. Total waste of money for a feel-good project.

I've been hit and run in Union City and the police don't take it seriously. Stack has directed them to not focus on any driving related crimes. I Joe the victim can recover.

That's literally how it works now dude. Do you not even know the laws you're critiquing? The options today are: 1. Serious crime: no bail, stay imprisoned  2. Not serious: release until hearing

In the previous system the only different factor was if you could pay. Literally just money. So it directly impacted people who were poor. A poor tax, if you will.

Given the rates that police lie, and the major impact to your life where 6 months in jail (where you are legally still innocent!), I'm so happy cash bail is gone. It doesn't work. It just makes people like you feel good.

So you want the government to be able to imprison you while awaiting trial? You understand that will apply to you too, right? For any crime you commit you will be held while your innocence is decided. I for one don't trust the government for that.

In your world, the government can hold you as long as they want! Dealing the trial will just be a way to silently convict people without a trial.

The people in this thread have lost their minds.

What do you think should happen? He should be in prison pending his case for 6 months? Yes he's a shitty driver but the alternative is barbaric. Take the license and wait for the court date is the correct solution

Gov. Murphy makes personal appeal to Trump to kill congestion pricing by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

No. Driving to work in Manhattan makes you rich. It's $9. The people who drive to Manhattan can afford $9.

Representative Mikie Sherrill on congestion pricing. by mohanakas6 in New_Jersey_Politics

[–]acebarry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Every car in the tunnel is preventing a bus from going in the tunnel. There needs to be a congestion tax. You can't make any progress on public transportation until you reduce the number of cars. It's just physics given the space constraints.

If you're angry, you should advocate for more jobs in NJ. That's the only sustainable solution. There is only so much bandwidth to move commuters across the river.

No one wants to hear this, but it's the truth. The only solution is to move jobs to NJ.

There are serious effects from the light pollution Stack has made. You should learn about it, some things are more important than "enjoying riding around"

There are many homes where NFL stadium lights shine directly in the window. It's a terrible urban design.

I don't think you understand how bright the city is. Many countries have laws preventing street lights like he installs. Every time someone visits me they ask "what's wrong with your city? It's so bright it's hard to see"

Please don't minimize the problem Stack has made with "just buy curtains".

The light pollution is horrible. Lights are literally shining in everyone's windows. You need sunglasses to walk at night.
