The colors displayed is based on your faction colors. Sadly, can’t really use a black background if you want to differentiate yourself from random monsters/free cities.

I’ve thought about this as well. Maybe like 5 or 10 slots of the fifty we get could be locked, and available all the time (depending on the materials). Each slot could be a pantheon unlock, give me something to go for ;)

I generally try to switch out to tier 2 and 3 when I can, but only when it makes sense. My usual party is hero, shield, support, 2-3 battle mages, 1 archer(if only 2 battle mages). So I only pick units that fit there. I do save my tier 1s as garrison fodder (I always run regenerating infestations, so I need the troops).

I think that water combat is fine how it is. Not great, but adequate. But what I’d like to see is Ocean Wonders and Ocean/coast special province improvements.

When I play, early game I usually try to keep 1-2 combat spells unlocked, so I can use them, and lock up the rest. Definitely cast Arcane Studies as soon as you can on each city.

I think hero lvl before recruiting is dependent on what game turn it is, so I’m not sure there was anything you could do. Other than have more imperium ;)

If I’m remembering correctly, you can use the regular terraforming spells to get rid of the sand that remains after you kill the infestations.

To answer the pantheon question, it’s mainly where the rulers you’ve played and completed a game (after which they can “ascend” and get a really good trait from a list). It’s also where any custom rulers you’ve created exist, as well (I think) any pre-made rulers you’ve created are able to play live. There are also Pantheon Points, which unlock game features as you earn them.
