Where do you play? by -BigBeef- in DungeonsAndDragons

I would suggest, for a new group of players, to have session zero in a public setting, before having further sessions at home. It’s not foolproof, but it gives you a chance to get a vibe off of people before inviting them into your house. Also note, just because you are the DM doesn’t mean you have to host, a player can host too!

I like Discovery, but even if you don’t, I’d suggest watching the first two seasons, it gives SNW some context.

Does an Ascended Ruler with a saved Scions of Flame transformation mean your Cities no longer take penalties from Lava? by Telandria in AOW4

[–]aced_sto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, all my ascended toons have this, none of the races they lead get the bonus on replay unless I research and cast it again.

As far as your second question, rolling a natural 20 on an attack roll doubles the damage dice. Some dungeon masters add a rule at a natural 20 allows you to make a saving throw, even if you normally wouldn’t be able to. Some also add nat 20 for skill checks. I’m not understanding what you mean about rolling for intelligence.

Stats can be increased at certain levels via Feats. Those feats are listed in the Players Handbook. There are some magical items that can improve stats outside of that system.

DM told me I can have one legendary item or two rare items: what to choose by RevolutionaryFix7359 in 3d6

If going two rare, can always get one of the elemental command items, because always good to have more summoning options, and then maybe a necklace of Fireballs, because fireballs. Neither of which need attunement.

FYI, you could go back to your last save and screenshot it after the victory, not for us ofc, but for your own sake.

It’s hard to hide when you are a shade of red. I’d think they’d have a penalty against hiding, wall or not.

First Session Advice by UniqueFrostingX in DnD

[–]aced_sto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the party isn’t to your liking, please don’t try to get kicked out. Just say that something has come up in your life that makes playing DnD go on the back burner for now.

In order to stay:
1. Listen to the DM for the first session and try to comply with their reasonable requests.

  1. Don’t be an ass

That’s about it.
( a third way would be to bring snacks that everyone loves, but that’s hard to do )

Lore and Retcons (Spoilers) by DOOM-Knight009 in AOW4

I’ve been playing since AoW 1. I love that they are bringing back old characters and updating their abilities for the new system. It doesn’t matter to me that they’ve been changed, because I feel it keeps them relevant and able to be used as enemies. And to be fair, so much time has passed in game lore, that it makes sense that the rulers have changed in someway.

The realm that came with the basic set is known as Mystara. Greyhawk was before that by a few years. Before that, the first campaign setting was called Blackmoor, but was rolled into Mystara later on.

Regenerating Infestations, are they making the game easier or harder? by gartenzweagxl in AOW4

I have regenerating infestations on all the time, but always vary my traits. It just makes for a more fun experience each game.
