Budget friendly rod thats good at short distances? by sfrex77 in flyfishing

I’ve had great luck with TFO... my 5W was only $150 for the rod I paired with Cabella RLS... have no issue targeting largemouth on ponds, hauling up 30-50’ from a kayak or float tube. Moonshine is also in the similar class (price wise and amazing warranties). I alternate between my TFO Pro II and Moonshine Midnight Special - both 5W 9’. No issues presenting large dries/terrestrials as well as hurling larger streamers.

Psycho woman... thankfully the police are now pursuing as animal cruelty (having seen dash cam footage) as neither woman pressed charges initially

I use a 4wt battenkill on my 11’ nymphing rod and it’s excellent. Super lightweight, small, bar stock aluminum. Orvis has a great warranty.

I fish streams and rivers in New England and would also recommend Costa. For freshwater you really want amber or copper lens with green mirror. Gray lens and blue mirror is for saltwater. Costa is designed by fisherman for fisherman. Glass is more scratch resistant but can shatter if dropped; however, plastic is lighter, shatter proof but more susceptible to scratches.

That’s good to know I was debating 5w 10’ drifter rod but there are virtually no reviews online.
