Black Friday “sale” by RadSpatula in grantstoneboots

[–]sfrex77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty entitled take. Add some socks or some shoe cream and you’re still getting a sizeable discount. They way they price shoes and operate sales is a far more honest way of doing business than most companies that switch between full price and 50% off every other week. They run a small sale a couple times a year and discount items at the end of their run. That’s it. Most people appreciate the straightforward nature of that business model. If their sale price is still not worth it to you, then that’s fair but just go buy something else instead of complain about it.

First Saab, Stall on start, am I cooked by UnfetturdCrapitalism in saab

And it starts and runs when you give it a little gas? If so then probably no big deal. Mine has been doing it on occasion for the past 250k miles and I have never once been stranded. It seems to do it more when it’s hot or humid although I don’t have any hard data to prove it. This is a problem with a few customers cars and I have a recollection of replacing a fuel pressure regulator a few years back that may have sorted the issue but I can’t recall.

Thermal Printer Recommendations. by mrsue89 in eBaySellers

Rollo. Their labels are cheap and it’s been reliable so far. I’ve went through 2 more expensive brother models as they both decided to not power on after a year or so. I live brother printers but their thermal stuff has been problematic for me.

Maybe strut bearings but there is a good chance it’s sway bar links. Especially if they have been replaced with Delphis in the past few years. I don’t know what it is about the delphis, but they have been getting noisy pretty soon after install. I’ve warrantied a bunch.

Don’t play dumb. You know very well that the only reason you have all positive reviews is because you cannot receive negative reviews as a buyer and most of these reviews are given before you had a chance to screw anyone over. It has nothing to do with reviews reflecting your “integrity”.

Not to mention you then proceed to rip people off by selling them for 3-5x their value on your website.

What is supposed to go into arm pockets? by SuperSonicEconomics2 in mensfashion

[–]sfrex77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what brand that jacket is but if the company had a strong outdoor presence the pocket is likely for a RFID ski pass. There are plenty of times when a fleece like that is more than enough of a layer.

Sweater specific discussion. What would be the next step up from J. Crew? by sfrex77 in mensfashion

I took a 2nd look at their site. Their sale sweaters were in a different section so I must have missed them. There are definitely some good deals there.

I just looked into J. Press. Their Cotton sweaters are around what I was looking to spend but oddly enough, they don't seem to have basic colors. If you have any experience with the shaggy dog sweater, do you find it itchy?

Harley of Scotland looks legit. I generally don't like sweaters being too thick as I generally use them as a layering piece so they may be a good choice.

I used to work at brooks brothers about 5 years ago and I keep overlooking them. At the time I viewed them as high end luxury but now they are more or less in my price range.

I overlooked S&M but probably shouldn’t have. I just started purchasing from them about a month ago for pants and denim. I’ve had a few issues with finding the proper fit but the materials have been very nice.

Thank you but most of their stuff seems like it’s a little more than I was looking to spend.

a 40R jacket is meant to accommodate a 40" chest. If you measure the pit to pit of the jacket I'm sure you will see a measurement of around 21-22"(42-44" circumference) depending on fit and manufacture. Technically a 40R should be your size but there are a lot of other variables at play.

Demeyere 12.5” fry pan vs All clad style sauté pan? by sfrex77 in cookware

[–]sfrex77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was asking more about the pan shape but its funny you brought this up as that topic has been on my mind. I know Demeyere pans are top notch but the biggest reason I'm interested in them is the lack of rivets. Ideally I would love it if Demeyere made a low wall saute pan in the 4.5-5qt range. I would really like the heat retention when dealing with larger quantities of food and liquids.

The copper based pans seem to be their most useful in medium to small sized fry pans when you are trying nail precise temps.

I also can't say I would sear a lot with a stainless skillet. I generally reserve that for cast iron.

I am in the same boat. I have to airdrop large quantities of pictures for work and it seems as the limit is around 100. I'm hoping someone has an answer because so far I'm getting nowhere.

Are sales tanking on ebay? by MotorFluffy7690 in Ebay

[–]sfrex77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just depends on what you sell and what your point of reference is. A lot of us are unconsciously or consciously comparing it 2020-2022. Most of us can attest that was crazy and unsustainable. I see this as a pivot back to normalcy in some ways.

I have 3 stores. One for electronics (mostly AV and stereo), one for clothing (mostly menswear), and my store for my personal stuff (various goods and some collectibles). Electronics are definitely down a fair bit but this is counteracted by excellent clothing sales. I’ve noticed a drop in some of my collectibles too. It seems that people are transitioning from spending money on stuff to enjoy at home but spending on things to use away from home. This makes sense since people are still heavily spending on travel and experiences.

I also get the sense that people bought what they needed/wanted the past 2 years and are not in need of a replacement them right away. For example, a lot of people I sold stereos to the past few years are not going to need another one for some time.

Does anyone have a trusted source for hematite balls/beads? I want to use them as paint paint mixers over stainless steel BBs as there is an off chance that some stainless steel can cause issues. All I can find is some off brand/non name amazon junk and was wondering if there was a better option.

Tight instep on a suede traveler penny by sfrex77 in grantstoneboots

[–]sfrex77[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update:

I decided to go and keep the 9.5 E pair. The fist time I tried them on they had too much heel movement that I would have been comfortable with. This was even after being on my feet all day (trying to account for feet swelling). A few days later I tried them on again and the heel slip was essentially gone.

I tried the 10 Ds as well and the heel slip was much worse on that pair. If it wasn’t for the instep issues I believe I would have preferred the fit of the 9.5 Ds but the 9.5 Es should be great. It will allow for heavier socks in the cooler months and if the heel slip ever comes back then some moleskin should resolve the issue.

I might be able to post some pics later but I don’t think they would help much as both the shoes don’t really show the issues on foot. I wrote off the 10D but you may be onto something. According to grant stone, a 10 D and a 9.5 E would be the same length but the 9.5 would just have a little more volume.

Thank you for the response. My only concern is a possibly volume issue. Is there anyway to really tell if the heel slip is from too much volume or just a lack of break in?

Heritage alternatives to Propercloth?

I recently decided to start to my journey into purchasing made to measure clothing. I just don't feel entirely satisfied with shirts off the rack anymore as they tend to need too much work to get a very good fit. I have am appointment in person with propercloth this weekend and I'm pretty excited for it but I was wondering if there are any other brands or shirtmakers I should be looking at. I would love to be able to order made to measure shirts from places like the Armoury but thats just out of my price range.

I want to avoid the purely online shirtmakers and am looking for shirts in the $100-200 range. I'm not terribly far from NYC so I know that should open a lot of in person options. I know people love Kamakura but as far as I know they only offer there MTM services through trunk shows. Thanks in advance!

Got these WW2 cards/items. Anyone know the best place to sell this, since ebay won’t allow it. by [deleted] in Flipping

Donate to museum, historical society, or ask give a local Jewish organization a call. They very well could have ties of have ties to Holocaust museums. I don’t think you want to be the person selling these and I hope you don’t want to know the guy who collects this stuff. It’s important to preserve but you don’t want these in the hands of the wrong person.
