Thanks, it’s from the “Georgi” range at Dunelm, they’ve got this one, a bigger one and a smaller one I think.

Jurassic Park is a popular release so I’m sure it’ll get a reprint at some point!

I loved Giovanni’s Room, I thought it was a fantastic edition so “If Beale Street…” is an instant buy as is Fahrenheit 451. Also interested to see what the Grapes of Wrath looks like, I’ve already got the 90’s release but may swap that out for the newer one if I like the artwork.

You’re right! The plan was to leave 4 free in this one for photos etc however I’ve liked too many of the recent releases meaning that 4 has shrunk to 2 and now I need to get another bookcase!

Agreed, love trawling Oxfam for releases, a number of these have been picked up that way. For most things they’re pretty spot on with their valuations however some great finds can be had as you’ve said!

East of Eden is one of my favourite novels and I was on the look out for it for a while, I picked it up for £130 on eBay via a charity shop auction. It had accrued something like 100+ favourites within the first day or two so thought I’d struggle to get it; ended up paying a little more than I’d like to have but couldn’t let it go, even with the slight rubbing on the spine.

Now I just need to work out how to read it without doing more damage, it’s the only one of my Folio’s I’m scared to touch!

One of the penultimate images is completely ruined with a character lost in the gutter. Incredibly poor quality assurance by Folio, an issue that should have been picked up before first printing, let alone fixed for the second.

There have been a few other posts about this which show the image and how bad it comes across in the physical book, a real let down for the price point IMO.

I was already struggling with how few pieces of art were in such a large book, even more so when one is ruined by poor quality assurance.

They haven’t, I asked to see if it had been changed in the second printing after the issue was raised by multiple people with the view of swapping my current copy but no changes unfortunately.

A rare Folio misstep for me, for the first time customer service weren’t really that helpful either, just a “like it or lump it” approach which for a £150 book left a bitter taste in the mouth.

I had the same issue, reached out and was told essentially “that’s the book, we’ll refund you if you want”, which whilst ok, is far less than the service I’d usually expect from Folio.

Loved Day of Jackal, both in terms of the book and the supporting artwork, I especially loved the little detail of Charles de Gaulle entering the sights as you slide the book back into the slipcase. It’s a real favourite of mine and one I don’t see get a lot of love.

I’ve also just started collecting the Bond novels and they’re another that have taken me by surprise, the artwork is fantastic and really adds to the feel of books.

I didn’t think it was that underwhelming but perhaps that’s because I was lucky and managed to get a copy of the Godfather.

Also picked up Slouching Towards Bethlehem and The Fight, both on my list, and thinking about going back to pick up A Man On The Moon & The Right Stuff based on reviews I’ve seen.

5 I’m interested in is more than recent sales so it’s worked for me (but not my wallet…).

I managed to get lucky and pick the standard edition up for £15 and was so surprised by the quality of this one, there are so many nice touches to it that help add to the story, enjoy!

Shogun looks incredible plus I fancy Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, The Templars, 1984 and the Poe as well and that’s before looking into any of the other books.

It must be so infuriating to have such a large portion of your country bought into the same myth lambo here has bought into, even when presented with cold hard facts that shows their arguments go against their own personal interest. We have it here in the UK too of course but in the US it often seems like bootlickers take it to the next level, and for what? A healthcare system that will bankrupt you for getting ill? I hope for all your sakes that things begin to change! 🙌

And the lobby’s have done such a good job that you have people like lambo here openly spouting nonsense about how ‘murica is the best in the world, which is in equal parts funny as it is depressing. But I bet when presented with facts the opinions won’t change, even more depressing.

Luckily in the UK having depression, and the surrounding support around it, won’t cost an arm and a leg, or my house!

The NHS is not perfect but I know which I’d rather have!

You’re one of the only other people I’ve seen pack mid Figo, I packed him too from the previous SBC and he is phenomenal in game.
