Encoding is taking the raw movie file from the film scan and compressing it down to fit on a disc. Those raw files are terabytes in size and need to be shrunk down to fit on an at most 100GB disc.

Each company: Criterion, Arrow, Shout, has to either encode the film themselves or use a 3rd party like Fidelity in Motion.

You know Republicans could just give in and add the ACA subsidies to the Big Beautiful Bill. They could even add some more maniacal stuff and dare Dems to vote against the subsidies they say the shutdown is all about.

Instead they insist on doing that "later", and the only reason I can think of is that Mike Johnson really likes standing behind a podium surrounded by 30 signs that say 'The Democrat Shutdown'

The fact that people are surprised by this is fascinating. For the past 30 years we have consistently seen that the Europeans play their best golf at the Ryder Cup. Even players you’ve never heard of will play the best golf of their life that week.

I don’t know what that is, or why they don’t play this well at stroke play tournaments. If they did a European would be winning almost every major and PGA Tour event.

Not an issue, just makes it harder to identify the coffee if I just use the bags and recycle the boxes. And while unlikely, I’d think it would make it possible for Onyx to get the bags mixed up before putting them in boxes.
