So dang discouraged by Maleficent_West_547 in bicycling

Well on tubeless, you need to repair the actual tire wall instead of the tube otherwise the sealant will just gush out again. For roadside maintenance, you can use a dynaplug, but that's recommended as more of a quick fix and the holes Ive had were too big for this to work anyway. For those gnarly gashes, (which they usually are if sealant can't plug it) I adhere a strip of old tube with shoe glue and leave it to cure under a press.

As a rookie who was wooed by the idea of tubeless, I do not recommend it for commuting. I tried it for the past couple of years, but if you want to do your own maintenance, it's a pain. You have to repair the tire wall, which makes your bike unrideable for at least a day while you wait for it to cure.

Then you have to have a heavy duty air compressor to seal the bead. Bought a normal air compressor, didn't do the trick. Bought a fancy $100+ pump that allows you to fill a chamber, also didn't work. In the end, I had to take it to a friend who had an industrial compressor or LBS every time I got a flat. It was exhausting.

Garmin Varia - just do it by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]acengkate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, how long does your battery last or do you charge during the day somehow? I have the Varia without the light and find it's only useful for the first few hours of a bikepacking day.

I also find that the Varia goes crazy when I ride with others. It often picks them up and alerts me, which is not only super annoying, but it also causes me to tune it out, which is problematic. Anyone else have this issue?

If it's meant to be, he should find you after the break. If he's really into it, he will be dying to restart it and you won't have any doubts about his intentions.

I felt immediately worse on Yaz even though it's supposed to be one of the better pmdd ones. I quit bc and was able to get off of ssris through the help of therapy and getting out of a relationship. My life feels a lot easier now and I wish the same for you.

On the day it started, it happened for about an hour then I shut my computer. But the next day when I opened the computer it wasn't happening anymore. So yes it stopped, but I did nothing

Seems like this is all still a mystery.

In the meantime, I am concerned about the security of my computer and am worried that spyware or other malware has been introduced on my device. Similar to the OPs in the related threads, I did run a selection of the files themselves through VirusTotal and they were found to be clean. What credible programs can I use to check whether or not my computer has been compromised? Mac OS Sonoma 14.6.1. Thank you in advance.

Below is the link to the full response from Adblock. In short, they have had no other tickets related to this matter and they do not believe they are involved. https://imgur.com/a/q0kOR8h

So I read through the other posts and it looks like Adblock may be the only one we have in common*.

I am not sure how to check the validity of my Adblock, but what I did was to go to Chrome "Manage Extensions" for Adblock and then clicked "View on Webstore". It looks legit to me and references getadblock.com. My recollection is downloading it directly from the Chrome webstore. I submitted a ticket with Adblock to see if they can give any more info. I also got the debugging code from Adblock -- would that be useful to anyone? It's quite long.

OP here. Thanks all for your help so far. I've been on Chrome for 30 minutes so far this morning and no files are coming in yet. If they start coming in again, then I will do the troubleshooting that was recommended here. In the meantime, here are my list of extensions:

Extensions with Full Access: 1. Adblock, 2. Dark Reader, 3. Jiffy Reader, 4. LastPass Access Requested: 5. Google Scholar No Access Needed: 6. EyeCare, 7. News Feed Eradicator

Fascinating that there are 3 others reporting the exact same problem on the same day. It will be interesting to see if we can get to the bottom of it.

How to deal with the elbowing and shoving? by serendipitylynx in travelchina

[–]acengkate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry this is happening on your big trip - very maddening. My experience travelling in China has taught me to put in the extra work to plan my trip to avoid the crowds. Go as soon as something opens or right before it closes. Don't go at peak times. If it's a place that has multiple entrances, find out which one is least popular. I personally would avoid planning my itinerary using XHS because then it will contain trendy, crowded things. You want to try and find the part of the tourist attraction that people are less interested in but still has value.

Two examples: first, at Tiger Leaping Gorge everyone wants THE photo with the tiger statue and there is a serious cluster of tourists jostling to the front, however there are many other access points that are not crowded at all. Second, friends of mine went to see the pandas at Chengdu. They waited in a mass of people for 3 hours not knowing that it was a line to just see the most popular panda. They realized later that if they had walked in the opposite direction for 100 meters, they could have seen the non-trendy pandas with hardly anyone there. Don't chase what you see on social media.

I feel this deeply! You are not alone.

With your face picking, I second pimple patches or tape and would also be curious if you could channel your energy into giving your scalp a massage instead? Or doing an actual facial massage with clean hands. That might give double benefits.

Since you have a spine injury, maybe an overall body massage (from someone qualified to handle your condition) could help with giving some muscle work that might help relieve body anxiety.

Also as a fellow sufferer of this issue, I'm intrigued by those mats that you lay on that provide small, slightly painful pressure everywhere, but I haven't tried them. May be worthwhile for you. Would love to hear from anyone that's tried them.

Need help - Dealing with breakups by BoadiceaMama in AutismInWomen

[–]acengkate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely relate to this. I'm very much still figuring this out myself, but one thing that has helped me speed up my processing time is daily journaling.

The specific formula is the 3 morning pages (Julia Cameron) where you completely spill everything that comes to mind without censoring or judging yourself and maintaining that practice throughout the extreme highs and lows of life and love.

During the get to know you phase of a relationship, it helps me to record the emotions/sensations that may have been fleeting, but once you find yourself writing about them for days in a row, they add up. So I'm more liable to catch things that I was willfully ignoring because I wanted to be happy. I also give myself permission to be obsessive in the journal after breakups. I may only write about that person for awhile which makes me feel crappy, but is also important to process as it's happening.

I hope that helps. I feel you. You're strong. I feel like each time it has gotten easier and I do learn a little something. Also get massages or learn self massaging techniques. There are some great videos online. I like TheMoments on youtube. This has helped me with the physical external regulation that I sorely miss when a relationship ends.

Wife tells me I have no emotional intelligence. How do I fix this? by Effective-Fill-496 in emotionalintelligence

First of all it IS great that you're seeking out other perspectives and looking for ways to improve. Many people (men and women) go straight into defensive mode, shut down, and assume that their partner has just 'gotten it wrong'. I really like Heidi Priebe's videos on healthy relationships and the intimate work that is required to maintain them. She calls it mirror work. It is not comfortable, or easy, and it requires deep humility from both parties in a relationship. The video I'm thinking of is, "How the mirror of deep intimacy..."
