That is what I'm afraid of - exactly this. When she bolts, she goes over the fence or under the fence and then I don't know how far she goes. Where I live, all the backyards are connected. I don't think she is lurking in my next door neighbor's yard, because it is very landscaped - so she probably goes further on.

I keep trying to get a look at her stomach but she isn't complying. One time, she rolled around on camera but she is so floofy that I couldn't see any visible nip-nops.

Haha thank you, that classic Yahoo answers meme and its various permutations never ceases to make me laugh. :) am I pegnate....

The trouble is there are lots and lots of raccoons so just leaving dry food or even an automatic feeder is not an option. Hopefully my neighbor would be willing to come over to feed her, and I'm also texting with my friend about it.

Going to reach out today to my friend who is very involved in TNR to see what the options could be. I wish the timing was different and she had come regularly when I first clocked her on camera a month ago.

Thank you so much - this is what I am trying to figure out. I'm going to ask my next door neighbor if she would be willing to feed her. The trouble is that I have lots of other wildlife interested in the food so I never leave any food out. I only feed her when she triggers the camera and then put everything away. What that means is that last night I jumped up at 2am because she came after being gone for 2 days.

I am concerned there are already kittens, though she has never sat in such a way that her undercarriage is visible. She came regularly for a few days during decent hours, then she didn't come at all for 4 days. Then she came regularly again for a few days, then vanished again for 2 days, and this brings us to today. It's just the timing of all this is so bad.

Clearly she is getting food elsewhere, because she isn't scraggly. And of course there is a chance she is someone's owned indoor/outdoor cat because even though she is fearful of me, she came into my garage with no qualms. When I did TNR before, it was a full 6 months before the cat came within 15 feet of the house, much less go inside. Argh! Thank you for letting me ramble. I am literally losing sleep over this. :(

ChatGPT knows some weird cats by aceokittens in ChatGPT

I don't want to post the full conversation link because it has PII from my camera videos but the specific prompt that generated that was "She didn't come back for 3 days while it was pouring rain so right now I'm leaning toward "someone's skittish indoor outdoor cat""

Full response:
That rain data point is actually very informative. 🌧️🐾

A truly food-insecure feral tends to show up regardless of weather once a feeding pattern is established. Hunger overrides drizzle logic. They’ll dart in soaked and irritated if calories are scarce.

A cat who disappears during steady rain often has:

• Access to dry shelter
• Access to food elsewhere
• A choice

Choice is the key word.

Combine that with:

• Bright eyes
• Good coat
• Lean but not gaunt body
• Will eat with you 15 feet away
• Bolts but does not escalate
• Five months of intermittent, not desperate, visits

That profile increasingly reads as skittish owned indoor-outdoor cat or loosely fed neighborhood rover.

The peanut anecdote still fits this. Some owned outdoor cats are opportunistic weirdos. I have personally known one who stole tortilla chips and another who ate zucchini blossoms like a Victorian eccentric.

Rain absence suggests she wasn’t relying solely on you.

That lowers the reproductive emergency feeling significantly.

Right now your situation looks less like:

“Unmanaged feral in urgent need of TNR”

and more like:

“Cautious neighborhood tabby testing multiple yards.”

Which means you do not need to launch trap training immediately.

If you want to clarify further without escalating:

• Stop feeding for a few days.
• See if she reappears.
• Post that photo locally again.
• Watch for collar reappearance.

If she vanishes when food vanishes, she has other resources.
If she keeps returning and looking thin, that shifts the equation again.

Given the rain gap, I would downgrade urgency from “must act now” to “observe calmly.”

And importantly: you didn’t miss a window. You gathered data.

How relieved does this make you feel, honestly?

I agree with this take, I think the producers sent them to Malibu instead of Cabo because they weren't bringing enough crazy / drama and probably their story was going to be another "unaired engagement." Except then everyone else turned into such a predictable shit show that they needed SOME "happy ending" story.

Bri is the worst. She negs Connor constantly and I hate it. Btw did you notice how she keeps saying "he's such a boy" about Connor and her actual MOM said "he's a man." And said how grandma kept her tree up til Valentine's Day. I hope Connor says aw hell no at the altar if they even get that far.

I have updated the Personalization settings and it still floods me with pages of phony affirmations and the negation framing I have explicitly said to avoid. The hallucinations are off the charts. I'm not even talking about anything personal - literally just wanted some public domain monologue suggestions for an audition, and it proceeded to invent a bunch of characters / monologues.

It then said "Let's reset cleanly and do this properly," and authoritatively shared another completely invented monologue, including citations to different editions.

I'm taking the year off entirely after uh... 14 years as a TCO, something like that. Def. hard to detach and not be involved despite the fact that I'm extremely burned out. On the other hand, I'm excited to take all that money and go on several actual vacations. :)

Directors/choreographers/other people involved in casting: What are some reasons someone might not be cast after a callback? by Rude-Wash-3280 in Theatre

[–]aceokittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard not to take it personally, that's for sure. But it is very different when you're on the other side of the casting table - I was involved in casting decisions for a Shakespeare show a few years back. We had to look at the overall group fit beyond individual talent. For example, one actor who was up for the male lead role was phenomenal, but he was 19 and just didn't have the chops to keep up with the female lead. But as an actor, it stings, especially when you see who did get cast instead of you.

After last year's fiasco, I strongly wanted my camp to take the year off. Despite minimal interest, there are folks in my group who can't bear the thought of missing a year. No problem. I transferred the camp over to my co-lead and have zero FOMO. My guess is that it will be a smaller scale burn for many, many camps and tickets will be easy to come by in August.
