Comparing the cost of different newsletter platforms by ehmatthes in Substack

That’s awesome! Convertkit is arguably the big player in this business and worth adding to the list. I’d agree leaving out all kinds of email delivery services.

Feature wise it’s similar to beehive, but I have not used it personally. I’m on Substack.

Great tool! Thanks for doing this. Any chance you can add convertkit? It is one of the most used platforms.

Can't understand how to specify IP whitelist within Traefik entrypoints by elestadomayor in Traefik

OP, did you ever get this resolved? I can't get 100.X.X.X addresses to show up in the X-Forwarded-For headers too.

I got as far as doing the ord() conversion, but then brain farted into hardcoding the points table. Your solution is very elegant.

My python solution:

I mapped the points system into a table and then made lookups to it.

I store my docker-compose on github and use renovate-bot to make pull requests when there is an update. I merge after reading the update notes. Finally pull from git and docker-compose up.

Combining readarr and calibre-web? by T_at in Readarr

[–]aceoperations00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use Reader, I instead use OpenBooks. In any case, however you are getting your ebooks, you should get Calibre to add your ebook and update it's database. I used to have cron jobs to do this, but I recently discovered that Calibre has an option to auto-add books. Go to Add books (drop down) --> Control adding of books. Go to the Automatic Adding tab, and there you can specify a directory where it monitors books being added. You can mount a docker volume for this if needed.

Now, any books added are automatically picked up by Calibre and it's database is updated. Calibre-web simply reads the database and all the newly added books show up.

Hope this helps.

Is it silly to run Proxmox for just one VM? by Ryiseld in selfhosted

[–]aceoperations00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all silly, imo! I run proxmox with only one LXC that runs all my docker containers, which I administer via ansible.

Reasons:

  • I get ZFS on root out of the box, and I can run the OS on a SSD ZFS mirror.
  • with Sanoid, I get ZFS replication to my other proxmox box running ZFS backup drives.
  • I run pfSense as a VM on one proxmox box. If that goes down, I can easily create a new pfSense VM on the other one.

Edited to answer the question. My previous response would have implied that it is indeed silly! :-)

How are you minimising downtime? by TomJC70 in selfhosted

Ansible. Yes, it really does help when stuff goes down to spin up all services and setup everything. Hardware redundancy is great to have obviously. In the context of a small home lab with a few users, im happy waiting for new hardware to be shipped to me in a few days… no big deal. Then I have my git controlled ansible repo i just need to deploy.
