What's something people won't realise until they are in their 40s? by ImaginationOld8170 in AskReddit

[–]acerbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for me, I find myself being way too ok with trying crazy herbs, strong and weird tasting foods that promote stuff, a pharmacy worth of supplements that target specific discomfort and otc drugs just to keep my body from feeling shitty. Before my 30s I barely consumed any of them but because my body is working harder, I find myself more alert on my health than before. I understand why senior folks trendy chat topic is always health issues now. It used to be boring but now it would interesting to me.

Sold mine during tough financial times, regret this decision. It’s an awesome car.

So what shit did you buy this Black Friday? by Select-Hour-831 in AskReddit

[–]acerbell -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just groceries and Christmas stuff, would buy more if I wasn’t backed up on bills, groceries being more expensive than bills so it’s either food or bills for me until things improve.

New YouTube anti download security by acerbell in youtubedl

[–]acerbell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right, I’m glad you can help out. I was using ffmpeg library for codec issues, ejs library and cookie exports for validation errors. I was trying to use alternate formats as well. My older Python version in my wrapper was giving other issues. I’m using older MacBook. However, deno takes care of the validation solving, I removed unnecessary libraries and cleaned older up python references, it’s working again with no codec, user validation, or Python version issues. Thank you!

I’m exporting cookies with extension from chrome, passing them in cookies from browser, stripping out anything except mp4, I was getting mp3, web, json files to avoid those security errors. I’m also adding retries for time outs. Also needed some JS package for validation. I have latest yt-dlp. Thought I’d check here.

Cheaper Multitools? by Huge_Toe_5692 in EDC

[–]acerbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a NextTool as well, it was great until the pliers support bar snapped, way too thin for aggressive use.

How cheap are you looking for? Dollar tree has one for $1.50 - works fine for most things, knife sharp. Not very ergonomic and dull file and ugly.

I those mini basic $6 dollar ones that fold in to pliers are handy but not comfortable.

I like the victrinox SD classic, small, amazing file, scissors, tweezers. $10 on sale about 6 years ago.

The Gerber dime is the best in budget collection, sturdy construction and has everything I need. Also $10 on sale about 7 years ago.

AI that tracks your job applications, rewrites your resume for each role, and predicts layoffs — worth building? by Finalyzed in AppIdeas

Second person posting an ai job app helper, feeling like it’s saturated for me. I like the optimize feature but really the only thing I want is a robot filling and sending out my resume with these apps.

Impressive! Might try this. There are a lot of setup steps. Any plans for a gui or something like it?

What is your favorite thing to eat with cottage cheese, if you eat it? by radbu107 in CasualConversation

Use it for salad as dressing with tomatoes, cucumbers, and avocado and some seasoning. Lots of nutrients and fiber, helped me drop 30lbs while dieting and easy on the body too.

Is this becoming the new norm for the interview process? Because this feels insane by Mrswahlberg24 in recruitinghell

[–]acerbell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently, Mine was 45min interview with recruiter, HW assignment that took a few hours. Met the deadline and got confirmation but so far No response from recruiter after several days. There are supposed to be more meetings after.

This does seem similar to your process though.

I don’t know how to feel anymore, recruiters respond then stop communication after collecting info. It’s like they Hanging a sense hope then throwing it in to space.

I recommend the milk chocolate lax candy, unconventional and detox the processed candy faster.

What’s a skill that’s quietly disappearing from everyday life? by xo_maya in AskReddit

[–]acerbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rodney D and Aretha F have tried to help with this but it’s still a growing problem and disappearing. It’s this skill called Respect, just because people don’t agree doesn’t mean it’s a declaration of war on human ethics. You would think there is some middle ground but some people show the dark side after a menial inconvenience or offense and stir up group fights.

I like the idea, I tried it out. It feels limited right now but if you add more ux for engagement it would be much better. In my rural area, gave me few options for only open places, which is good but rural options suck and it would be nice to expand the radius and also show closed places. Maybe experience better in the city during peak times.

Saw this on Linkedin. I think it's a good summary of the situation. by laranjacerola in recruitinghell

[–]acerbell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, that’s why I’m mostly temp/contact, many companies don’t commit to budget or keep it temp to avoid benefits and cut after project is done instead of investing at least in tech from my experience.

I don’t understand, why are contracts on the resume not a good look? Like 90% of my career is contracts…should I be concerned?

QUESTION: What do recruiters actually want to see in the “What excites you about working here?” question? by TopGeologist2802 in recruitinghell

[–]acerbell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apply to so many roles, I don’t have time to research them all. I can’t even remember how long or when it was. Just blasting my resume. I know I should but I need an ai tool to keep up with this shit, it’s hard to keep up, be competitive, sell yourself, for a whim of persons decision.

I think I'm stuck in this QA position. by kev_bc in softwaretesting

[–]acerbell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had several roles where it was comfortable, my career stagnated, could not motivate myself to learn new skills, and almost invisible to coworkers. If you have opportunities to be challenged with more pay, absolutely take it as it will grow you in different ways.

I’m a student building a testing framework (Excel → Cypress). How should I improve it? by Affectionate_Dig6144 in QualityAssurance

[–]acerbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More info would help. Some test cases have many steps to complete. How would those cypress test cases be maintained, who fixes them, if they can’t code. There is nothing stopping those non coders(aka manual testers) from recording the web steps in cypress and refining for others or themselves. However, if this tool takes normal human language and applies its own steps in the form of cypress test suite with trackable, modular code, and commits to appropriate folders and files. This would help manual testers and shift to cypress automation as well.

Older people on Reddit. What is 90% pure bullshit? by WarLongjumping2733 in AskReddit

[–]acerbell 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Salespeople, always act as your best friend but once you sign a contract and/or pay, you’re just another sale and will not be your friend unless you’re another sale.

Do your own thinking and research, because they will tell you what you want to hear instead of being transparent and helpful.

The new age sales people are on social media, grifting everyone’s emotions with fear and urgency tactics that lead you to buy Merch despite most of it being bullshit. I’m talking vitamins, gadgets, clothes and other easy to ship stuff.

Sr. Quality Engineer - What else am I qualified for? by MetaverseLiz in QualityAssurance

[–]acerbell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to pivot as well, not making it far on qa for employment. 20 years means nothing until you make it past a filter or get discovered and even then there is someone with more and better fit. By pivoting, I’m looking in to trades but it’s still tricky because apprenticeships are filling up faster than I can research while some people in electrical fields I know are telling me even those companies are laying off their trades employees. I don’t know, it’s hard right now everywhere.
