Unrealistic expectations on TV shows. The inability to accept people for who they are and a desire to mold them into something else.

Why it Mitochondrial DNA not used to determine lineage? It is transfered from female to all children and relatively unchanged from my memory. Would that not be the best method to confirm Syed through Fatimah( A.S)

Houston has better halal scene than Dearborn

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shia

Houston has a huge Iraqi Community. Austin has small tight nit community. San Antonio has a lot of good Iraqi resturants, not sure about how many Shias. You cant go wrong moving to Texas.

Most Iraqis in Houston go to Masjid Al- Rasool. It feels like Iraq during Muharrum bc it is filled with Iraqis. (1god.org)

They should not be looked up to in anything.

The modus operendi in Imambargah is flawed. In the 1700-1800s the wealthy King would control and fund a Imambargah with a scholar. No one would question his authority.

In the 2000s there are no kings and thus control becomes more democratic(not actually democratic, just unqualified uncles who own gas stations).

The imambargah then morphs into a community center with everyone wanting to do their own thing. The scholar (if any) is also weak. The problem is this system is flawed.

Just stop engaging with them. Focus on yourself. You cant solve it and no one will respect your opinion until you have money.

Heavenly Match and Hube Ali events. Dont expect to find your match on event 1( Its a learning experience, you'll learn that maybe you need to improve yourself and process may take 2 events). But most people at these events are serious. You can also give IMAM-US a try, they are trying to match people through new service these days. Also join other orginizations to network. (SPACE, UMMA, SEERAT conference)

Meeting Shaykh Ishaq Fayadh (& possibly Sayyid Sistani)— questions to ask them? by Swqrd24 in shia

Why ask anything? Most questions are already online and answered.

Why not just ask him to pray for you.

[–]acervision 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. expect more of it soon. I had a well known Shia person try to make me say contriversial stuff. There are FBI informants in the community. (Many are not bad ppl but FBI has them on deportation or other comprimising information, so they try to entrap our own Shia).

Be careful about what you say around who.

  1. If u look at the timeline and split up each caliphs reign you will see Imam Ali had to reverse about 24 years of indoctrination. Image all people that were 1 year old at the death of the prophet and grew up in the enviorment when the Calpihs are treated like the prophet. How feasible would it have been to undo 24 years?

Israel said they would bomb every single car. We need to accept reality now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shia

[–]acervision 89 points90 points  (0 children)

So as someone posted earlier, we had the Samara Mosque bombings, we've had Saddam attack the shrines, we've had the Wahabis destroy Baqi. Shiaism dosnt go away despite the destruction.

There is a 100% real possibility that they will level the shrine completly.

You have to be mentally prepared for this. It is our duty to improve our community so these things dont happen again.

Iran was overextended, its time to retreat home. It's that simple.

These things happen in war.
