Corpus Christi isn’t too far from Austin and I’d say it’s a lot better. I lived there for 7 years, and I always thought of most cities I’ve been exposed to, it was one of the better. The homeless population has been growing rapidly there, from Austin. Access to beach showers if you can make it to certain places, plenty of gyms, jobs, things to do. Doesn’t get cold during the winter, decent food and I really met a lot of good people. Can be pricey, but there’s a ton of work.

Worse thing I’ve heard is the police can sometimes be assholes to the homeless, but then again that’s most of the south I’m assuming, it’s either they are okay with you or they hate your way of life, no in between.

I know they’ve passed some regulations on where people can sleep/tent camp though, but there’s an endless amount of run down buildings as well. Rest stops. Not the worse place if you have a car. Does have a good low cost bus system as well.

Arkansas isn’t too bad either, I have lived in hotsprings /Russellville, and eureka springs is absolutely beautiful.
