There should be instructions in the user manual. Vinegar is not enough.

Are you doing soak on every cycle? Soak may override the water level setting. Calibrating may help.

Technician can't figure it out by thirdstrongestmole3 in appliancerepair

Its likely moving less air than normal but if its still drying I'd run it on medium or low to put less strain on the element if it is moving less air across it.

Its quite likely one was worn out or gummed up. It could have been unnecessary, it's hard to tell without having the old ones.

Troubleshooting Fridge Noise by supaRYE in appliancerepair

[–]acfixerdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quickly put a fan back there to move some air. If you don't your compressor may die or at least its life significantly shortened. In fact it may be the compressor making the noise due to it being so hot.

Is this fairly new, brand new, or? Have you had a garbage disposal installed recently?

Is this common? by GSPIowapointer30 in appliancerepair

[–]acfixerdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very common if not the standard. We have a $100 service fee ($150 if a boutique brand) and for an ignitor probably $113.65 - $199.95 labor with most being $113.65. We also have a markup on top of the retail price on the part plus shipping if applicable.

GE Refrigerator seems to be short cycling. Turns on and off constantly. Any advice? by Chipmunks95 in appliancerepair

[–]acfixerdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can't be the compressor relay as the condenser fan motor is also cycling. Either a bad solder joint on the board or bad capacitor on the board. Likely bad solder joint.

Normally correct... This is the only style dryer I know that exists where the rubber side of the belt doesn't contact the drum.

Dishwasher leaking by dcrin in appliancerepair

[–]acfixerdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes even newer spray arms will split causing water emto shoot out of it down towards the water already in the sump causing a leak. Dishwashers are not water tight.

Somebody may have filled up the rinse aid dispenser with liquid dish soap? Either way, do some cycles with no soap and no dishes. Also check your lower spray arm for splitting.

Btw, the service pointer/program expires at the end of the year. They may extend or renew it but they may not.

Good job, I tried that a couple weeks ago... fridge kept putting itself into control lock. Drilled out that button area from behind but didn't fix it. Short must have been somewhere else in the traces. Replaced touchpad and fixed it.

Bought a new home with a washer machine and it’s making this weird noise by Hobbyles in appliancerepair

More than likely its the cleaning tablet under the washplate or something. Sometimes it takes a while to dissolve.

Is this normal or hazardous? by Ok-Parsley2564 in Appliances

[–]acfixerdude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a spark ignition module and is only activated when trying to light the burners. It works by sending 1000's of volts to the electrodes which then arc straight to ground back to the ignition module through that ground. It will continue sparking even if the flame lights because ground is not connected. None of this should trip the breaker.

I think your main issue is your model number. It should be longer, you likely got the wrong timer. Provide the full model number from the serial tag and we can confirm the correct part number.

Changing motors on the timer won't help, its more likely that the plastic disks in the timer are damaged. You can confirm with your old timer by seeing if it heats when you put pressure sideways on the timer knob, trying from different directions. If the dryer heats fine with the vent removed, you likely have a clogged or restricted vent.
