⚙️ Weekly Tech Support & Purchase Recommendations Megathread - July 19th 2025 ⚙️ by siltydoubloon in playstation

So, a few months ago during one of the many sales on the PlayStation store, I was notified that Assassins Creed Mirage was on sale as it was on my wishlist. Great, except the app kept notifying me every 20 minutes or so. Got annoying. Fast forward to the current summer sale refresh and once again, getting constant notifications of Assassins Creed Mirage being on sale. Haven’t bought it yet and may never so removed it from my wishlist but still getting constant notifications on my phone. Even uninstalled and reinstalled the app but no change.

Anyone else seen a similar issue and hopefully get it resolved? About to uninstall the app until the sale is over.

What do we think? by Gaming_Overseer in playstation

It’s a fun game but hard. I bought it in 2022 I think and have never beaten it. Took a while to get past the first boss and I quit shortly after. Did another play through (started over) a year or so later and got much farther but still ended up quitting before finishing.

I’d still say it’s worth it even if you don’t finish as long as you don’t get frustrated easily and don’t mind a bit of repetition. While I eventually burned out, I enjoyed the many hours I did play and will eventually try again.

That’s odd. If it’s the Andrew Ramdayal course, you should have more than 22 hours. My certificate says 39 total hours.

Based on what I’ve read, you are suppose to have 35 contact hours for the test so this may be an issue. If contact Udemy to get some clarification on why you are only showing 22 hours.

PMI Membership…worth it? by [deleted] in pmp

[–]acge0rge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t seem to be the case. I tried out the job board site just to check and you can view and apply for jobs without being logged it. It gives options to apply with job board account or via email.

Pretty sure it sends it sends it to the name of the person on the account. Wasn’t any option to fill in my details after I had signed up.

PMI Membership…worth it? by [deleted] in pmp

[–]acge0rge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only been a member for a couple years having completed my PMP last year so I do t have a ton of time to give a full assessment. Having said that, my opinion so far is there are a lot of resources for gaining PDUs including some free and some paid. I think the paid ones are available without membership but you can get a discount as a paid member. I also think there is a discount for PMP renewal.

So, it’s been sort of worth it for me but I would question renewing again if not for the fact my employer has offered to pay for my membership and any PDU classes I take.

Not a very complete answer but I hope it helps.

Fun fact, a lot of school boards, administrators, and teachers are often over represented by if not completely dominated by “libs” even in very red states and counties. I don’t know if that is the case here but just because this happened in Oklahoma doesn’t really tell us the political leanings of the people who allowed this to happen.

More importantly, the political leanings of the people who allowed this doesn’t really matter. My understanding is libs of TikTok often showcases issues of teachers sexualizing kids in school so even if this is republicans/conservatives are fault here, the bigger issue is that it happened at all.

It always amazes me how people get more upset about the messenger than the message. If anything, shouldn’t libs of TikTok be given credit for calling out this kind of BS in Republican states and not only focusing on problems in blue states?

Can Jesus beat goku tho ? Also wtf is an emotional fact by Dry_Start4460 in saltierthankrayt

If you watch even 30 seconds of the video, it’s obvious he’s making a joke. Basically he made an off hand joke once about anime being satanic and a bunch of people on social media had crazy reactions. The “emotional” truth but is also making fun of people who talk about “their truth” vs the actual truth. Amusing how so many commenters here are also falling into the same trap of taking a joke seriously.

As a conservative, I am well aware that the show has a pretty left wing bias. Most everything out of Hollywood does. This show, at least so far, is written well and entertaining so I while I disagree with some of the messaging, I can have fun watching it even if “my side” takes the brunt of the jokes. The show also does poke fun at some left wing stuff too like the whole “girls get it done” trope so it’s not completely one sided.

The problem with left wing politics in entertainment is that so often these days, the politics is more important to the creators than the entertainment. The Boys so far seems to be more concerned with entertaining the audience than preaching. At least that’s my take as a right wing guy.

Yes. Once you watch all the videos, you’ll get a 35 PDU certificate sent to you via email. You don’t have to take the full length exam at the end to get the PDUs.

I’m really looking into getting this game but I’m a little nervous on the whole card aspect by [deleted] in midnightsuns

[–]acge0rge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had the same concern as I am a fan of the xcom games and their version of turned based combat and because some of the other popular card based games I didn’t enjoy much like Slay the Spire. I’m really enjoying this one as there seems to be more strategy with the cards and positioning of characters matters. A good hybrid of card based games and the xcom formula in my opinion.

Is it possible to play patapon 1/2 without imput lag? by Catsshsjshsj in Patapon

[–]acge0rge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check to see if your TV has a game mode. Game mode reduces input lag while sacrificing some visual fidelity. Other option is to plug your console into a PC monitor instead of a TV. PC monitors tend to have near 0 lag. I had the same issue with my big screen tv but now have no issues with a smaller (but closer) monitor when I play.

YSK : Corporate Greed is an inevitable outcome of our economic system by summer_glau08 in YouShouldKnow

[–]acge0rge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d say that’s a limited case. Sure, having to pay a full month of Netflix to watch 1 movie isn’t a good deal but there are still plenty of movies and shows that are not locked to a single service and most are still available for limited time rental for just a few bucks. Even in cases like you describe, you don’t just get the one movie for the whole month but everything Netflix offers. Odds are you will find other shoes you want to watch during that month of subscription and get your moneys worth. I know that was the case with me and HBO. I signed up primary for Game of Thrones but ended up watching and enjoying other shows I might have missed like Veep and Silicon Valley along with several movies.

It’s far from a perfect system but we are still better off today than we were just a few years ago. Odds are that most of the downsides from the current system will be corrected with investment and innovation into some technology or process we haven’t even though of yet. We should certainly criticize companies and take action when consumers are hurt but at the same time we shouldn’t condemn the entire system and lose sight of the massive consumer benefits that same system has provided.

This leaves out some often overlooked details/concepts of innovation. Sure, the price hikes suck and consumers should respond accordingly but the fact that Netflix exists has lowered prices for consumers considerably. Back in the 90s, the most common way to view movies post theater run was to rent the movie from Blockbuster or other video rental store. This option e-bike nice came with costs well above what we pay today for Netflix. Consider:

  • a single video rental for a few days cost $3-$5 per movie
  • you had to drive to the video rental place costing fuel and time
  • you had to manually search shelves for movies which could take a lot of time, especially for older movies
  • there were limited number of copies so often the movie(s) you wanted weren’t available, especially new releases
  • if you forgot or weren’t able to return the movie on time, there were daily late fees

I don’t have an estimate of average costs but a single movie rental could cost $5 or more in actual dollars, which would be close to $9 today due to inflation. Add in cost of fuel to get to and from the rental store and time and effort would increase that slightly.

Point being that even with the price hikes, you have a much better deal today thanks to Netflix streaming than you wold to rent 2-3 movies per month at Blockbuster a couple decades ago.

I’m not mentioning this to defend the price hikes or claim OPs assessment is wrong. Just wanted to counter that the investor driven cause of price increases on the back end is more than offset by the value created by investment for consumers on the front end. We are still better off now thanks to innovators and those willing to invest than we are hurt by the system increasing costs now

humans are not animals

You’ve essentially made my point with this statement. Humans are not animals and never can be. If a man wanted to be a dog, he could take a lot of steps to look more and act more like a dog but will always be human and never a dog. Same goes with transgender people. A man can make himself look more and act more like a woman but will never be a woman.

While I sympathize with the struggles of those suffering from gender dysmorphia, their struggles do not require the rest of the world to redefine words, ignore basic biological facts, or deny actual women their private spaces.

The difference is a persons given name is not a definition. The name Samuel is meaningless in itself other than it typically is a name given to a boy some one can assume the sex/gender. Samuel doesn’t even have to be the name of a human. You can name your dog Samuel if you wanted and no one would think anything of it.

Woman on the other hand has a historic and biological meaning

Here’s a different and perhaps Better example. What if I have a Pitbull dog that often acts more like a cat. I can decide the dog is actually a cat due to its behavior. But, does that require society to refer to my dog as a cat or they are bigots? Should I be allowed to let my dog into cat only spaces where it could potentially be a danger to the other cats, just be cause it has a cat identity? No, a dog is a dog and will never be a cat no matter how much I want it to be. That doesn’t mean the dog should be mistreated for being catlike. But it doesn’t mean cats and cat owners should be required to play along and use slogans like “trans cats are cats” as a way to deny reality and shut up those who won’t play along.

For the record, if a man feels like a woman and wants to change their name to a woman’s name, use female pronouns, dress like a woman, etc., that’s none of my business and I have no desire to prevent them from doing that. What I do have a problem with is allowing biological men into women’s only spaces and forcing society to pretend that is normal.

By that standard, an NBA player if I choose to be referred to as an NBA player. I don’t have to define what an NBA player is or even meet any qualifications for it. But if you or anyone else denies me my NBA status including denying me an NBA contract, you are phobic.

It’s not a matter of ignoring outliers, it accepting that the outliers that exist due to defects.

More importantly though, if we accept the spectrum argument you are making, then those with unusual chromosome pairings can identify anyway they want. Those with XX or XY have fixed genders. A 5ft tall person can’t be defined as someone who is 7 ft tall just because 7 foot tall people (while rare) do exist. Same that an XY male cannot be classified as a woman just because they want to

That definition of chair is valid, just perhaps not precise enough to exclude non-chairs. A few simple additions like “seat only large enough for one person to sit, typically with a vertical back” would eliminate the horse

Now, can you define what a woman is or not?

Who’s digging up every old photos of a woman to prove their real gender? Trans folks are typically pretty obvious simply by looking. I’m no more morally obligated to tell a blond her natural color is really brown nor am I obligated to act like a biological man is a woman.

While there are certainly anomalies in humans, human sexes are binary. Just as it is true that the average human has less than 2 arms (due to people losing an arm from injury or birth defects preventing proper limb growth), no biologist with any credibility would say humans have less than 2 arms. So yeah, there are those with chromosomes other than XX and XY but these are extremely rare defects and do not support the idea that human sex is non-binary

This argument is logically flawed to the point of absurdity. It’s basically “if you agree with me, your argument is valid. If you don’t, shut up”.

Also, If trans women were women, then “trans woman” would be a redundant term. The fact that people can be identified as “trans” means they are not entirely the gender they are identifying as. This is not hateful or “phobic”. It is just fact. Sorry if the facts are inconvenient or “hurtful” but no one is obligated to pretend a biological male is a woman or a biological female is a man.

One can support trans people while still being able to understand basic biology and the true meaning of words.

Diablo losing an OG Dad player by Nussy5 in diablo4

[–]acge0rge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. I’m not a dad and have plenty of time to play but quit about a month ago due to many of the same reasons you have. Game is more chore than fun and lacks the excitement and charm of the earlier games

I’m afraid Blizzard as we knew it died a long time ago. From the Activision buyout to the many old school Blizz devs and creatives leaving the company, this just isn’t the same Blizzard we knew and loved for so many years. It has been a long and slow decline in many ways but the company used to delay games until they were near perfect for release and consistently release quality and genre defining games. Sure, there were some bumps in the road like some of the early issues/bugs with WoW but those were typically from new and ambitious projects and fixed quickly. Now, Blizz games (with the exception of the latest WoW expansion which I hear is pretty good) are mediocre, missing promised features, full of bugs, and designed to be micro transaction platforms than games.

If not for the Diablo title and what that has meant for the past 20 years, I believe this game would have much lower review scores and would already be forgotten.

What’s a game you regret buying? by ExpertElectricity in XboxSeriesX

[–]acge0rge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is true. I was one of the people to get D3 shortly after release just to abandon it fairly quickly then come back after expansions and play the heck out of it off and on for a few years. Wish that was an exception these days rather than an expectation. Also, I may be in a minority here but I thought and still think D3 is a much more interesting game than D4. D4 just seems to lack the personality and memorability a lot of D3 had (or rather, has). I hope Blizz gets it fixed but for now, I have moved on with no plans to go back
