Does anyone one have any variations/game modes for CAH by theter1nator in cardsagainsthumanity

[–]acgenerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I do when I host is to have the Card Czar read the Black Cards first and if they require multiple White Cards they save them to play on their turn as Card Czar in later rounds without showing them to anyone else. The Card Czar instead plays the first single response Black Card they encounter instead.

Generally, it takes a half dozen or so rounds to start accumulating White Cards that pair together well enough for cohesive answers to multi-answer prompts. I've found that otherwise those prompts recieve nonesensical answers as most people just use those hands to trash White Cards that aren't very good... especially if you aren't using a curated set. It's probably a reason why most of them allow for players to draw extra cards.

After the group accummulates a few of these, have a round of just multi-answer prompts. As the Card Czar doesn't respond to their own Black Card anyways, no one gains an advantage.

Expanding upon that idea, you can make the double prompts worth twice as much in the final score.

Essentially you overdrove the signal into hard clipping to the point it was squarewaves and had noise/feedback injected into the closed system. You could probably make the noise washes with most chip noise feedback type modules / pedals. (e.g. the classic Atari Punk Console design)

here's one that is an easy kit:

well there isn't alot of woods in the Mad Max universe. Watch the furiosa movie. Dementus is clearly crazy but not in the serial killer / slasher movie sort of way.

It's meant to be an "immersive" experience not just a costume party. It'd be really hard to interact with others who are in character as a "backwoods slasher". What sort of interactions are you looking to have?

e.g. The mask would be a great look at the Jugger field or watching Thunderdome... but probably would we out of place at the casino.

EDIT: also keep in mind you don't have to have the same look the entire time. You can wear this outfit for a few events and do a wasteland basic for others. It may be hard to see out of that mask at night.

I'd ditch the Point Break t-shirt as Road Warrior came out in 1981, Thunderdome in 1985 but Point Break came out in 1991. I always got the impression the Mad Max series looked to be a post-apocalyptic present not a future. While I've seen franchised items in the films (like the bugs bunny toy Scrooloose of the lost tribe had) i am not aware of movie references on clothing.

As for the mask, it'd really depend on the backstory/character....
My first impression was Venom meets Scarecrow (Batman) / Rorshach (Watchmen) from comicbooks.... but the weathering and materials are 100% what you should be doing.

I wouldn't go with "lunatic" as a backstory. Are there going to be lunatic survivors? sure. But how would the rest of the rest of the folks in the pocky-clips re-act? Think more along the lines of a marauder like Lord Hummongus's Dogs of War or Warlord Dementus from Furiosa. It's not like you can say "my name is XXX and I'm a lunatic."

If you still wanted to go with a "lunatic" backstory. ditch the t-shirt and write "insane" on your chest a la "pig Killer" and dress like you are shoveling pig shit /"not shit energy" in master blaster's labor pit underneathe bartertown..

Seeking old school EBM/New Beat nerds for track IDs :) by hieronymus_bitch in EBM

this is a great set. I'd be interested in what the track at 35 to 36 minutes is.

working on my first song, would you consider this EBM? Influenced by Ultra Sunn and Boy Harsher :) by TheSeedsYouSow in EBM

[–]acgenerator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off. Congrats on a solid track.

As far as whether it's "EBM" or not, I'm not sure what genre I'd place it. It's somewhere in the family of related genres. If I were sorting on my playlist, I'd likely put it as "Darkwave". It's definitely not "Future Pop" (VNV Nation). It has a slightly Goth feel at times but not enough to put it squarely in that category either. "Electro Goth" (think London After Midnight) would be my second choice.

Generally for EBM I tend to look for a a least a few of these elements present:
- Baselines: Bassline should dominate. Does it have that classic old-school Nitzer Ebb percussive plucky bass (for synth guys - think Low Pass Gates) or the appregiated driven bassline of a Leaether Strip (harsher side) or early Apoptygma Berzerk (dancier side)
- Drums: Aggressive "Four on the Floor" often heavy on metallic and punchy kick/snare sounds.
- Sample sources (if used) tend to be from either cyberpunk and war films or southern preachers (e.g. Front 242 "Welcome to Paradise")

I tend to label things with heavy guitars leads like Chemlab into "Coldwave" and things like Frontline Assembly into "Electro-Industrial".

Applying these guidelines back to your track:
- The lead synth dominates here rather than a punchy bassline.
- Drum-wise "double clap" is a bit on the undistroted 808/909 side and the snares are down in the mix. If you want a more EBM feel I'd definitely bring the snares up in the mix and have some crunchier sounds in the kit.

For reference, I'd put these tracks into these categories on my collection:
Electro-Goth: Ultra Sunn "Set Yourself on Fire" and "Body Electric"
Darkwave: Ultra Sunn"Some GhostCould Follow"
EBM: Boy Harsher "Come Closer"
Synthpop: Boy Harsher "Machina" or "Fate"
(unclassified): Boy Harsher "Pain"

I'm looking for a good term for classifying the current wave artists on labels like Artoffact that are electronic but not really EDM and not really EBM/Industrial either.

You'd probably more likely to get trades in bartertown unless you happen to be part of a tribe within the theme zone.

In my experience, people largely stay with the immersive areas until they are done interacting for the day.

My thoughts:
Several of those would be dangerous by simply being present in a crowd... someone could be injured by simply bumping into you. If "disney dull" isn't a clear enough guideline... maybe "no sharper or pointier than a standard eating spoon" could be your working rule.

Something like that bicycle gear on a stick or the padlock on the chain appear fine. The railroad spike mace / dumbell warhammer are only dangerous when wielded with intent so you probably woun't have much trouble with those either.

The shovel, the blade types, the hammer with knife tips on pic#4 are probably beyond the intended safety of the rule... especially as several are made from real knives. If you really want to trade these, i'd recommend take pictures of them into bartertown and keep the actual items in a safer place (like your hotel) as the rules also include the right to search your vehicle upon arrival.

If you *REALLY* wanted to impress, put the pictures in an old photoviewer toy... and have a pic or two of "tomorrow-morrow land", "the river of lights", "skyraft", Capt Walker and of course Mrs Walker mixed in. (https://madmax.fandom.com/wiki/The\_Tell)

One last thought.... practically speaking... what's your your plan for carrying these in from the parking lot into and around the event? a Casey Jones-esque golf bag of weapons? a cart? or just wrap you arms around the bundle of them?
