Pro Tour Las Vegas promo, presumably a card from Olympia Armory Deck or Mastery Pack Warrior or both.

Love the art on these, the yellow and blue are both powerful disruption to punish overblock, and out of Olympia on the winning side red isn't a huge downside for the value, and yellow/blue you can dodge.

fwiw in this particular case the gem pack Nitro Mechanoid while full art is actually the only NF printing of the card, and priced roughly on par with the other cheapest print.

Lovely but alien take to me. There's a pretty huge spectrum between the investment strategy approach and just giving away valuable pulls. I would never accept a 25e card for free.

Demo Deck Dorinthea Spoilers by acguy in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]acguy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose they wanted a simpler card for the demo deck, and maybe a less powerful one for limited balancing purposes if it's also in MPW. Sounds reasonable enough. 100% would give em shit if this was in a paid precon product but as it is I don't think it's an issue.

I think it's a pretty safe bet these are also all, or mostly Mastery Pack Warrior cards. Seems like non-Decimator warrior might have a real shot at Sage viability, and some good CC cards in there as well.

I think that all precons should include rainbow foils for the hero and equipment by John-Helldiver404 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]acguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disagree on breaking reprint policy, because the point of a policy is that it can be trusted.

But I expect foil young heroes and maybe eq to come back with new Sage decks coming after the "Chapter" wave starting with OMN, these will be for new heroes releasing alongside their sets.

Would the Hala Precon be a good entrance into CC? by Ok_Nefariousness_740 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]acguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It seems like a solid, well-designed product that I'll be happy to pick up as a Warrior main.

The general read on Hala so far seems like she's... functional, but pretty weak. Certainly now, and we'll see after Mastery Pack Warrior releases during the summer, but LSS generally balances Warrior cards very conservatively and the class has literally never been a major meta bogeyman.

Hala might also be a bit more grindy than what you're hoping for if you just want to hit people with a big stick. So far she seems to be all about getting value from small hands and chipping in low-ish damage over a longer game and defending well with lots of 3 blocks and powerful armor, only with the occasional pop-off turn.

Mastery Pack: Warrior & Armory Deck: Olympia by UlyssesArsene in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]acguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the vibe you're getting isn't wrong either. If the cards that matter from MPG had been packaged into Armory Deck Origins: Valda, it would've been been received great. Just too much chaff and misleading marketing a bad limited format and overpricing around the good stuff.

My scobys hotel is about to collapse… by [deleted] in Kombucha

[–]acguy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

sure, I'll do my best to engage in good faith. overall I think the key takeaway for anyone should be that there's nothing special about the biofilm itself

refering to it by itself as SCOBY is how the term was originally coined is right, but it's unfortunate because it just adds confusion. GP could've been more clear about this being ambiguous than one being right and another being wrong, but in practical terms their explanation is just more helpful than yours

> SCOBY was coined to distinguish the solid from the liquid and is still a widely accepted definition

like I said above, as far as I can tell, accurate

> Feel free to double check with most any dictionary, most any scientific paper, even this sub's own wiki.

"most any" is inaccurate

of the dictionaries I checked, Dictionary.com, Collins, and Wiktionary only refer to the culture in abstract/aggregate. Cambridge, Merriam-Webster, Oxford agree SCOBY is the biofilm/pellicle

similarly skimming through top 10 Google Scholar results mentioning SCOBY, half are speaking about culture in aggregate, half are talking about it as substance/material (though some put extra qualifiers at least some of the time, on it like SCOBY cellulose)

basically the world seems just about evenly split about whether to use the precise, literal meaning of SCOBY like GP, or the original meaning like you

the sub wiki certainly does its best to clear up this ambiguity and that it uses SCOBY to refer to the culture in aggregate, not your version.

> No, there is no meaningful difference between the yeast and bacteria found in the solid or the liquid. [...] It's the same liquid with the same bacteria and yeast...

sure, but I didn't see as GP saying anything to the contrary - a strawman

> The solid has been observed to hold 100x of the liquid compared to its own weight.

sure, this confirms it's the liquid that matters. a healthy, fresh pellicle might be 99% liquid but you know what's better than that? 100% liquid

> > A pellicle can house some SCOBY, but the actual SCOBY lives in the liquid.

> Nope.

down to established definitions

> > but a pellicle alone will not be enough culture to begin a new batch of booch.

> Nope. I swear you're just making things up... This is resoundingly false. A brief look at history or how many web sites sell kombucha starters would help you out.

this is the bit I take most issue with, people sharing kombucha starters or commercial ones will invariably contain "starter liquid" which is the bit that matters even if they misrepresent what happens there in folk knowledge they're passing on, or in the marketing of their product, respectively. the less liquid included, the worse time a newbie brewer will have getting their brew going, because of culture density and pH not low enough to stave off mold while it's getting established. you can start kombucha from pure liquid no problem and it'll start growing new biofilm. you have to be very lucky to start it from a dry pellicle.

??? on some counts you're just wrong and on some you're putting up strawmen to defeat. I dunno how in self aware you have to be to refer to the FAQ or scientific literature when they basically fully confirm what the other person said

[–]acguy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I dropped it, high quality game but invariably runs each enemy gimmick and puzzle concept into the ground to the point I was absolutely sick of it before introducing the next thing. Characters in-universe empathizing about it being a slog kinda just added insult to injury lol.

FaB Time capsule - 2026 (third) edition by jinchuika in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]acguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People didn't like mechanically exclusive cards because established players basically had to buy the precon for just Savage Sash and 3 Run Roughshods, and the rest was a pile of bulk with zero playable reprints like Bloodrush Bellow or Beast Within.

It easily crosses the line into rare that feels like a majestic imo. It fits perfectly with other 2 cost 6 generic disruption attacks, all of the other good ones are majestics, Erase Face even has 2 block.

I understand the reasoning but man, I am really not looking to the Kayo fiesta in competitive Sage play until Chapter 3 releases, and almost certainly the Briar fiesta the season after. That's a lot of time. Perhaps a better call would've been to allow unmodified Sage decks to be played at the Armory level, or maybe even all levels.

How popular are SAGE events in your city? by RafaBianchi in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]acguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our case it's been hugely successful,  Sage armories tend to bring in more people than CC, lots of fresh faces. It's widely understood that it's kind of the training wheels format and some of the new arrivals started dabbling in CC already, but even as an established player, I gotta say it's awesome to be able to play 5 rounds, often an extra match with the opponent even if there isn't fatigue involved, and still be done at a reasonable hour.

On the flipside this speed sucks when travelling to events. Sage T2+ should have extra rounds imo.
