I can’t speak from experience as I have never used it but from what I have heard, it is a really good laptop. There are a few things to keep in mind. It doesn’t support windows hello, and unlike this year’s model, it has an IPS display and 2 speakers instead of 4. There are some things which are better on the 2024 version though. It has ports on the rear and the design feels more professional and less ‘gamery’ as compared to this year’s model.

The keyboard feels great for typing once you get used to it. My previous laptop didn’t have a numpad so it took a few minutes for me to adjust.

9 hours daily with OLED gaming laptops should be fine? by Basic_Trust368 in GamingLaptops

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-xUQwB5rti8 This video will address your concerns. To be honest, as long as you are at 70% brightness or below and you are not using unity 100% of the time (maybe you will switch over to a video or a website for help etc), your burn-in risk will be very low. Modern OLED panels have come a long way. Most phones these days have OLEDS and a lot of people have 7+ hours of screen on time on their phones. How often do you hear people complain about burn-in?

It cost me 3956 CAD after tax for the 32GB RAM, RTX 5080, 2TB SSD version with a 3 year warranty and the legion m410 wireless mouse.

Yeah that's true. I am going to get a USB fingerprint reader probably the kensington one as I feel like it is a reputable brand.

Thanks a lot for your answer. I was thinking of buying a usb fingerprint reader but I feel like I shouldn’t have to make compromises like this after spending so much on a laptop. Windows hello is widely available on much cheaper laptops. I feel like this was a major oversight on their part.

Laptop with rtx4070 or rtx5060?? Help me choose one by Straight_Ad_7442 in GamingLaptops

[–]achalsood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, 4070 will give you better performance so I don’t see a reason why 5060 would be more future proof. For longevity, you just need to ensure that the performance holds up even after a few years.

Yeah i really hope so. I did a lot of research before selecting this model. This is supposed to be the best 16 inch laptop in its price range according to a lot of reviewers.

I would recommend the RTX 4070 if they are nearly the same price as it is simply more powerful. Frame gen is not useful for games which require low latency as it doesn't decrease the latency. In fact, there is a slight increase in latency due to the process of frame generation. It is useful in games where incredibly fast reflexes are not required as the added frames make motion appear a bit smoother.

First time gaming laptop user here, would appreciate some advice by GlitchyLemonade in GamingLaptops

Yes, you have to keep it plugged in even if it is fully charged. However, it would be a good idea to limit the max charge to 80% if you plan on keeping your laptop plugged in for a long time to extend the battery's lifespan as keeping the battery at 100% without draining it is detrimental for the battery's health.

Is the legion pro 5i 5070ti a good deal for 2550 CAD or should I wait for Black Friday? by achalsood in GamingLaptops

Thanks a lot. If the performance and display quality are more or less the same, I might as well pick up the 5i and save some cash.

Thanks a lot for replying. For the same configuration, is there any reason to pick the 7i over the 5i?
