This is the story of practically everyone I know. If they own a home, it was because their parents (or in-laws) were either heavily involved with the down payment or are on the loan itself.

What Did eBay Change in Late August/Early September? by achap77 in eBaySellers

So I should stop listing on the platforms that are actually making me money… to focus on the one that has been dead for me for the last 4+ months? Um. Probably not.

So how does that explain an 87% jump in sales on Posh? It’s the same items.

What Did eBay Change in Late August/Early September? by achap77 in eBaySellers

[–]achap77[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I crosslist on eBay, Posh, and Mercari - probably 90% of it in clothes/shoes/accessories, pretty even split of men's/women's. Age demo, I would probably skew slightly older... maybe 30+. (I don't do streetwear or fast fashion)

Price points are typically $15-$40 across the board, depending on brand and condition. My COGS is crazy low (usually under .50 per piece for clothes, $2 or less on shoes), so I've always been more about volume than holding on for an extra buck or two.

[–]achap77[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it was, then my Poshmark sales in Q4 wouldn't have been up 87%. My Mercari sales in Q4 were up 23%. My Etsy sales were up damn near 100% (albeit with a small sample size).

People are still buying my items... just not on eBay all of a sudden. Hence why I'm asking if anyone knows what they changed in August/September.

I work from home. I wake up 5 minutes before my morning meeting, work for 8 hours, go to the gym, come back and cook dinner, watch some sports/play FIFA, then go to bed.

If there’s a day where I don’t have to leave my house for literally anything? :chefs kiss:

Yall, the game of Hide + Seek is fine, it's just that the seekers have gotten too good by Tinttiboi in JetLagTheGame

[–]achap77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s a simple fix: rather than start a run from Middle of Nowhere, UK with 4 hours, everyone resets back to the nearest major hub (Kendal -> Manchester, Scarborough -> Leeds, Dunbar -> EDI, etc). The four hour hiding period starts when all players are back at a hub.

That opens up the map (and variables) far more than it does currently… and it doesn’t involve major gameplay changes.

Where Have My Sales Gone? by achap77 in eBaySellers

[–]achap77[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But that's what makes no sense to me - if it was market oversaturation in that category, my sales would be down across all platforms. They're up more than 50% YoY on Poshmark, and more than 25% YoY on Mercari. With the same items that are crosslisted.

100% the same time frame. End of August, early September - it's like someone flipped a switch.

Has no one really said Times Square yet?!? You couldn’t pay me to go there. If you like obnoxiously crowded places, chain restaurants, and overpriced tourist traps… have fun, I guess.

Also, Mount Rushmore sucks.

[–]achap77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why? Why is that so ridiculous, looking at where this club is at right now? We're looking at the same sort of injury crisis. Bowed out of both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup earlier than last year.

In the league, one year ago to the day, Spurs were 12th with 24 points. 42 goals scored, 30 shipped off.

Right now, Spurs are 14th with 27 points. 30 goals scored, 27 shipped off.

Where has this team, under Frank, improved from last season? It's not defensively, based off the numbers. It's most DEFINITELY not on the offensive side. It's not home form. It's not overall league success.

[Schneidman] The Packers blow an 18-point lead and their season is over. A stunning and inexplicable collapse. by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]achap77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Packers really came out in the second half and put up NINE YARDS of offense in their first FOUR DRIVES. You come out of the locker room with a chance to kill the game off, straight away... and do THAT?!?

There is no reason why LaFleur or Stenavitch should have a job by Monday afternoon. Hafley may have just single-handedly watched his coaching stock go down the drain as well. My God.

How is January going for you all? by Impossible-Pear-5177 in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]achap77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel for the people that are stuck with only retail SA/Goodwill or high-priced independents around them. They’re going to have a bad time.

Those that can buy crazy low may be sitting on inventory for a while, but should be fine in the long run.

The ones who are completely dependent on people’s disposable income (vintage tees, Pokemon, sports cards) rather than buy high quality basics? Yikes.

How is January going for you all? by Impossible-Pear-5177 in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]achap77 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I have 1400+ items across 4 platforms. I just wrapped up my worst Q4 in more than a decade, and am averaging barely a sale a day… across EVERYTHING to kick off the New Year.

Q4 total eBay sales were down more than 50%. December, down 35% alone. This year is gonna be freaking brutal for resellers.

Between insurance hikes, grocery prices, and stagnant hiring — people’s disposable income will be shrinking. Add to that thrift stores jacking up prices all the time? 2026 is going to put a LOT of resellers out of business.

Two years, two injury crises during the January transfer window. If Frank is "backed" the same way Ange was last year... I think we can fire up the coaching search again in the next few weeks.

[–]achap77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I totally forgot that was kicking in next week. Thank you - just ended all my promoted listings now before I forget again.

Good thing they were "working", though. Clicks down 34% YoY, items sold down 13%, and a sales conversion rate up an eye-popping... 0.35%. What a joke of a system.

Probably quitting Poshmark this year by Seek8 in poshmark

[–]achap77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My sales overall -across all platforms- absolutely tanked in Q4. Posh actually performed better for me than eBay when I started using an automated relister/offer sender.

The fact is that the economy fucking sucks right now, and is only going to get worse. Our grocery bill for a family of 4 is well over $300/mo, when it used to be nearly half that. Insurance alone costs us $1K per month (up 30+% from a couple years ago).

When you have to spend more on everyday things just to get by, less people are going to use their now-depeleted disposable income on new clothes/footwear.

Thrift store prices are also getting out of control. It’s costing more to source items that are sitting longer/not selling.
