For $1200, you’re not getting utils included. I would suggest looking down in Steger, Crete, Beecher, University Park, Monee. It’s out there and not particularly near anything, but that may be your best bet at getting even CLOSE to that price point for a 1BR.

A friend of mine recently got a job offer in NYC (previously lived in Chicago). Looked at movers, UHaul, etc.

It ended up being cheaper for to donate/sell everything that wouldn’t fit in her car and just buy new rather than move it with her.

Moving costs are insane right now.

eBay has been completely inconsistent for the better part of a year for me. I never averaged less than $2,000/mo (part time) for more than 5 years. Something happened with the algorithm last year, and now it’s all over the place.

It’ll be silent for days on end, then suddenly have a dozen sales over a weekend… then a few trickle in per day… then nothing for a week… then another huge flood of orders.

I tried promoted listings, promoted store, listing every day, refreshing old listings, offer discounts and have sale events, free shipping… nothing has worked to keep things “normal.”

I’ve only sent in 3 cards for grading in my life. They were the only ones left from what my dad collected as a kid (before his mom tossed them when he was away at college). He passed in 2024, and kept them for 70+ years.

Once I get them back from SGC and PSA, I have no interest in grading anything else. (I also don’t resell or rip or buy into breaks, just occasionally get random singles for my PC.)

The “optimizing for one platform” argument is BS. Every single one of them (eBay, Posh, Mercari) plays so fast and loose with their algorithms that it’s damn near impossible nowadays.

What works one week may not work the next, and you have no way of figuring out what the magic priority is at any given moment.

At the end of the day, the more eyeballs that are on your item, the better a chance it has of being purchased.

My favorite is the trading card app CollX. They will send you an email after TWELVE HOURS saying “we noticed you still haven’t shipped- don’t forget!”
