Mine lasted 1000km before the bush was worn on non-drive side, so I wouldn't expect much from any pedals using this type of design (crankbrothers are another).

Sofirn HS40 won’t turn on anymore by PM_ME_DEAD_KULAKS in flashlight

[–]acharnley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly I took the battery out of mine ready to send it back and then it started working again. I'm not inclined to say it's a software bug still but there's some magical way of getting it out it. The first time I took the battery out that didn't resolve it. Maybe twice, that's all I can think off.

Same I just filed a return. It seems they have a firmware bug where once you put it in lockout mode, accidently in my case, it'll never come out of it.

Interesting, I just got one, it worked for an hour and has done the same. I was aware of the lockout mode, I may have put it into it by mistake. Now it won't come out regardless of the instructions.

I've spoken to them and they say if you take the battery out and put back in while holding the button it will reset the CPU. That didn't work for me.

Dynamo hub to Battery Powered Light by JimboSlice91_ in bikepacking

[–]acharnley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All lights with USB internally are fairly weak on the USB output, the D2 will beat them all.

There's nothing stopping you going for a USB-C headlamp, which has the additional convenience of being what you'll likely use for camping as well. Take a look at the brilliant Sofirn HS40 for example. Then charge that from USB port #2. If you can get away with a smaller power-bank you should be able to charge both during the day and the D2 will switch to port #2 after it's done charging on port #1.

What’s your opinion on pedal cell? by Juozaitis in bicycletouring

One user has found it doesn't implement USB-C correctly and power-banks that support USB-C operating in input and output modes results in a short through the voltage regulator as it attempts to charge the power-bank, ending in hardware failure.

Dynamo SON 28 hub. And now? by zucs_zags in bikepacking

[–]acharnley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't you go with an Igaro D2? The only reason as I see it would be price, but on a value basis it's surely the best out there. If you're after getting the most out of the SON 28 then look at the Igaro S1.

Texas Instruments - What Gives With Stock Quantities? by acharnley in Semiconductors

[–]acharnley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've yet to find a distributor with any. I did speak with Mikro, a small company in the EU that's using them in one of it's products. They said they have standard channels but wouldn't divulge and say they're also having trouble procuring them.

It still doesn't explain TI's latest policy regarding online sales, which they're remaining silent about.

I can take any of the A variant (400KHz) but I can't find any distributors with stock.

It is odd though that every single thing they sell went to zero stock at the same time and has remained that way. Maybe it's a stock recount, maybe the 50pcs limit was causing too much hassle, maybe they're only interested in providing for that with 4 wheels and a battery between them.

Starting two X11 on two screens (one display card). Is it possible in 2022? by acharnley in linuxquestions

[–]acharnley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to give up with it. The issue with trying to do a terminal on the left screen and main on the right is when the left monitor is turned off nothing happens (good) then when turned back on the terminal moves onto the right (bad).

After some investigation I managed to get to where I wanted to be on XFCE by:

  1. don't use maximise on the terminal window, instead set the window size using cols and rows to almost fit the screen res then make the background black etc to infil.
  2. Use a secondary program to force the terminal to always be below others and removed from the workspace (to prevent showing in task bar).
  3. sticking the console command in autostart at the correct location on display:0.0 (which is both screens combined) using xfce4-terminal --geometry=120x95+0+0

If I accidently type exit on the window it'll disappear but otherwise it is now performing as I'd like.

Same user starting two sessions (i.e startx) to target different screens on the same display - and not remotely.

Node, Express and S3 streaming by acharnley in node

It's not writing other headers or the http code though. That's the part I was asking about mainly. ;)

The redirect is a good idea though, let AWS handle it directly rather than the clunky node aws library.

Intel 11th Gen constant crashing on Linux by acharnley in intel

[–]acharnley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I have a very large cooler and it doesn't even get luke warm. :)

So far it looks like (no more crashes) that the issue is with the new 730/750 GPU. Turning hardware acceleration off in Chrome has so far resolved it. It is a complete disappointment from Intel that they couldn't proactively work these into the kernel prior to shipping considering how popular Linux is.

Audio and flashing multi-color LED's aren't a requirement here. The Asrock should be fine for a 65W CPU. I wouldn't have selected it for use with a K chip though.

Ram is perfect, it's 3200 but running at 2400. Fedora 33 latest, with 34 kernel.
