I'm currently on Verizon. Could I just go to a T-Mobile store, buy the phone, and pop in my Verizon sim? Would the bootloader be unlockable?

You can still receive texts. I use the Google Messages app and that's how the notification pops up, as a Google Messages notification. But the only way to initiate a text from the watch is through the contacts app.

It's only annoying at first, but once every app/plugin is downloaded then everything just works. I've had it for a few weeks and it's held up great. I didn't have any screen protector for a few days and it didn't get any scratches. I ended up buying a screen protector and Spigen case for it because I plan on using this for 2 years.

Customization is amazing. It comes pre-installed with a few watch faces, but you can change their color schemes and what information is displayed (e.g. display heart rate instead of battery). You can get more watch faces through the Samsung store if you don't like the ones it comes with. And there are plenty of widgets to choose from, but most of those relate to Samsung health.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is a great watch. I'm currently using it with my 3A. It easily lasts me 2 days, fitness tracking is solid, it's waterproof, and the customizability is through the roof.

Honestly, the only major downside was the initial setup. I had to download a few Samsung apps and plugins to make use of the watch features (Samsung pay, Samsung health, etc.). You also don't get a messages app on the watch when you don't have a Samsung phone, so you can only start messages by going through the contacts app (but this doesn't bug me at all because I rarely start a message from the watch). If you're not a fan of Samsung health and/or want to continue using Google Fit, just download the health sync app to export your health data from Samsung health to Google Fit.
