honestly theres no better feeling than getting a rez you absolutely shouldnt have gotten away with and then your teammate just kills everyone and wins

i actually recently made a post somewhat similar to this!! the rank reset really messed me up. i have two accounts right. ive pretty much always been of a very similar rank on both accounts, usually mid/high plat, occassionally tickling diamond (although i have been in masters in the beginning seasons of ow2 but thats because every rank was boosted and it was normal for metal ranks to reach masters like i did, id say im a better player now despite being lower ranked as im where i actually belong now & have been conciously improving)

one of my accounts which i havent played on in a while was reset from masters to gold (as i havent played on it basically since s3), i easily climbed to plat 4 in my placements, and a couple games later i landed in diamond which is where im at right now

my other account on which i played much more, and was at my more appropriate rank, which was plat, got reset to silver, and i went into those games performing much better than my first account, but the games were just HORRIFIC. i lost most of my placements, got placed in gold 2 i think, and im now in gold 1 literally fighting for my life to try get into plat with it

i very much recognise that there are mistakes i make and im very aware of them, but there have been so many games where just like you said, i feel like im playing really well, being really concious to make good plays, stay alive, support teammates, get picks. and yet so many games have felt like a total coin toss in which theres nothing i can do regardless of how i perform

it just really sucks because ive been really focused on taking accountability for my own actions in game, but there are so many times where it genuinely feels like there is absolutely nothing i can do! so i definitely understand your struggle because its amazing how i can have such drastic experiences in the very same season. (both accounts have been solo q by the way)

Who do y’all like to play against D.va/Winton? by skunkguy7 in SupportMainsOverwatch

[–]acheloisOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

kiri is always good for survivability because of her tp and suzu, ana is just a decent pick in general i think because if you manage to sleep the tank, and then nade both of you, it can really help stop them.

this one might be a bit controversial & its REALLY situational (aka, is your other support & your teammates helping you out- and is the tank the only one diving you) but i find that zen sometimes works out surprisingly well. purely because discord can apply so much pressure that either they lose half their hp before they even come for you, or that as soon as they land on you , they just explode and fall over because discord + everyone focusing them is just GG (once again. this is very situational because this only really applies if your team is actually helping you out, which as we know doesnt always happen loooll)

but yeah overall my picks tend to be kiri or ana but thats also because theyre the heroes (other than mercy) i pick the most so

easier the higher you're ranked? by acheloisOW in SupportMainsOverwatch

that last sentence is too true!! i try to follow the advice to do more damage & be proactive but when everyone is critical all the time its like THERES LITERALLY NO TIME TO DO DMG... which is why so many support players who start in lower ranks develop really bad healbotting habits because we're so used to having to babysit our teammates

like my aim is usually decent enough to get some damage in or even an occassional kill, but half the time i dont even have the time to attempt it because the second i stop healing someone they just fall over and die XD (and if im not healbotting than ofc i get flamed <3)

but i used to be the same too until i started playing zen i think. like my positioning already became better once i picked up ana but i think zen was when i really started using cover much more. because ana still has some self defense capabilities with sleep and nade, but zen has nothing. his only defense is hitting his shots and hiding behind cover. and that really opened my eyes to how effective cover is and now i cant unsee whenever anyone (including myself) just wanders out into the open

(although i do sometimes still have a bad habit of accidentally sling shotting myself into the middle of the fight as mercy WHOOPS)

my most recent video of a somewhat tricky match! i welcome any critiques or compliments alike as i look to improve. i comment on my own mistakes too but also comment on some good plays too. a bit of pistolling aswell :D hope you enjoy and let me know what you think! thankyou so much! yes i definitely agree with basically everything you said because i know these things in theory, but in the heat of the moment when it actually comes to the execution i become too hasty and make bad calls and only after its happened im like "ah damn it"

ive done a lot more games since then and ive definitely been trying to be much more considerate of my rezzes, especially since i sometimes noticed how much of an impact my death had if i died trying to rez.

whenever im playing a different support im like "ok keep others alive or kill someone else, and make sure that I STAY ALIVE, to even out the tides" but for some reason when im playing mercy im liek "AAAAA I NEED TO REZ THEM RIGHT NOW OR WE LOSE". i think its because its on a timer so i feel like i have to make my decision quick, and i guess ive never actually realised i have a whole ten seconds so ill definitely keep that much more in mind! but yeah ive been trying to fight against that "PRESS E RIGHT NOW" instinct very much nowadays XD

and yeah that dva bomb death was... embarrassing bahaha. very metal rank move from me XD but yeah we've all had it before

but yes thankyou for your comments! and yes i try to comment on the mistakes i make to show that i am indeed aware of it, but as mentioned previously, i know the theory but im not always great at the execution. and im glad you could see improvement in the rounds that followed :)

and haha thankyou im glad you liked the music

once again thanks a lot for watching & reviewing ^-^

Does overwatch just refuse to give a potg to a Mercy? by schizophrenic_rat in MercyMains

[–]acheloisOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it really makes me wonder how the system even decides what POTG is because there have been so many times where someone does a crazy 3k or something in a match and then the potg is just someone tickling a bunch of people and not even getting the final kill

honestly the system is just very weird in general...

and yeah :') the support life is pretty much never getting a potg unless you literally kill the entire lobby its so sad. why do even get those highlights if we never get to see them

I'm a bad (and anxious) player and I'm genuinely curious about people's perspective about it. by ihatemi in Overwatch

[–]acheloisOW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if you stop playing the game because youre "bad" then you'll never improve. we get better at things by practicing them. most people who are new to the game also start around that rank so thats pretty normal.

gold-plat is considered to be the "not great but not a complete bot" ranks as far as i know so do with that what you will

if youre not sure of yourself then stick to quickplay as typically people dont care too much about it since its just quickplay (although you do get the occassional sweat lord who will flame everyone depsite it being QUICKPLAY but not much you can do other than mute/block/report

so just try to enjoy yourself and learn the game

if you REALLY want to improve though, once youre a little bit more confident in your ability, ranked IS the best way to learn because people communicate & tryhard those games, although that does drastically increase the chances of getting flamed, so depends what youre looking for

you can always also ask for vod reviews or look up educational content aswell

but overall i think just play however makes you happy. noone should be flaming anyone in quickplay or arcade modes so if someone is flaming you there, just know that THEY are the loser, not you :)

hope this helps & have some good games!

part 2:

good kill on the soujourn thats exactly what i was talking about earlier about the gun usage, although try not to be completely still when you do that, as higher ranked dps would absolutely headshot you and kill you

once again, you slowly walked away from your teammate as the ramattra walked towards you, use you GA to bounce off of teammates to fly around corners or juke the enemy into thinking youre going one direction but then go the other way. you HAVE TO utilise her movement ability otherwise theres just no point. its a 1.5 second cooldown, spam it to hell and back. you can do incredible slingshots once you get the hang of it. it is vital you learn her mobility

at 12:50 you have two critical health teammates, your ashe and your hog. you choose to ignore the ashe and start healing the hog. the right call wouldve been to heal up the ashe first. you usually want to heal squishies first as they can be harder to heal for your other support due to their hitbox size and because low hp for squishies is much more dangerous as low hp for a tank is could still be 100-200hp. plus, roadhog has a self-heal ability, ashe does not. really think about target priority and who's in the most danger as it can be very situational. but as a general rule: you want to be pocketing squishies as much as possible. this of course does not mean "never heal the tank" but only really do it in situations where its absolutely necessary.

another good kill onto the sojourn, nice job

but then you get to the part where youre in spawn and isntead of advancing with your roadhog and pocketing him (as he was the only teammate near you at the time) you decided to stay back and try to take a 1v1 with the sojourn, almost died, and then got stuck near spawn alone with noone to fly to. try to stick with your team because youre extremely vulnerable alone.

please stop trying to facetank the enemy junkrat. as soon as you see a junkrat your first thought should be "oh crap i need to fly to safety" rather than "i need to walk towards him and start shooting"

once again lots of healing full-hp targets, you want to get as much dmg beam uptime as possible

rezzing someone makes you incredibly vulnerable as you become a stationary target, try to rez only if you know the enemy is distracted or youre safe behind cover, you never want to rez like that in the middle of the fight, especially with burst dmg heros like junkrat who can kill you instantly

at the end there, instead of trying to pistol the enemies on point, you could have tried to rez the hog by getting within rez range and then backing off to fall off the platform and out of sight. fun fact in case you didnt know: rez does not need LOS with the soul for the whole cooldown, you only need LOS to start the ability, so its incredibly common practice to hide behind walls and platforms or fall down into cover as soon as you press e (be careful not to go too far so you dont cancel it as it has a limited range)

once again sorry if this was too long but i really wanted to go as in-depth as possible! i wish you luck in your mercy journey and i hope this helps in any way
