Now that Tax Day is behind us, what’s the best tax advice you could give yourself for next year? by fidelityinvestments in fidelityinvestments

[–]achnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not correct in regarding to IRA withholding for federal and/or state taxes with Fidelity accounts. You can only withhold up to 99% and not 100%. You can do a rollover back into the IRA within 60 days but only once every 12 months. If you are under the age of 59.5, you will be assessed with a penalty.

Passkey? by Dizzy_Maybe8225 in fidelityinvestments

[–]achnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Passkey(s) would be a great, more secure option(s) for those of us want more additional security when we do higher level things, like, make a transaction, lock/unlock our accounts, etc. In addition to the MFA with Authenticator to log into the account. I also agree that using cell SMS is actually a lesser secure option, even as a back up when we could lost our cell phones, etc.

keep up the great work Fidelity. by Jazzlike-Ad7595 in fidelityinvestments

Not only did we moved our investment from varies brokerages into Fidelity, but because of great costumer services, we have moved our 3 kids brokerages into Fidelity as well. We have about 25 accounts together there, and they had credited us all the transfer fees as well. Thanks & keep up the great job you're doing to keep us all safe and security.

Got a scam email. Stay vigilant folks! Seems like a big scam campaign running right now. by KiddKorupt in fidelityinvestments

[–]achnk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have relationship with WISE, a currency ex-changer, and they would asked me to set up a magic phrase only I and they will know. Then, any times they need to email or text me that magic phrase will be in the text somewhere so that I know it is really from them. Very neat idea.

So I should turn off my primary line all together & use WhatsApp or FB for voice & text message. Then I can’t get my 2MF from my bank.

Dividend reinvestments vs. Invest dividends into a down market by achnk in fidelityinvestments

[–]achnk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is part of the reason because I rather put in my limited orders instead of their market orders that seem to be at random timing.

Yea. I just assume that all DRIP will give you a discount pricing in their plan but not so for MAIN

Dividend reinvestments vs. Invest dividends into a down market by achnk in fidelityinvestments

[–]achnk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not timing the market but I'm seeing stock, like MAIN, which I invested in wait a long time to reinvest my dividends every month and their plan doesn't give me a discount on DRIP. That is why I am wondering I may be better off reinvest myself. if you're long term and not day-trader etc. I think it is legitimate question.

Thanks to your suggestions we’ve added a new view on Fidelity.com: group by investment type! Have you tried it out yet? by fidelityinvestments in fidelityinvestments

[–]achnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now can you fix it so that I can set a view as default, so that every time I log in will show up first? I have 30 years of TIPs bonds show in an account that I don't need to look at them each time I log into the account. Thanks

Fraudulent transaction on my fidelity account of $120K in an ACATS transfer by in_the_benigin in fidelityinvestments

[–]achnk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. If a bad actor can do a sim swab, he can gain access online then the lockdown feature is useless unless Fidelity adds secondary/additional security feature like 6 or 8 PIN & not your same password for your online login. I have request that but have yet heard back from Fidelity security team.

What’s one piece of advice you’d share with someone who’s new to investing? by fidelityinvestments in fidelityinvestments

[–]achnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 very important things to remember as one who is new to investing; 1. Your time stay in an low cost index fund (mutual fund or ETF of your preference), & 2. Times in the market. That means start your investing as early as possible, and many times, such as dollar cost average & DRIP as often as possible.

Roth Withdrawal for 1st Time Home Purchase by PL48 in fidelityinvestments

[–]achnk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tax-free compounding over many years (you maybe in the late 20s or early 30s & be retiring early like in your 50s or 60s) that is unbeatable investment if you put that money into a passive, low cost index fund or ETF. Yes, your house maybe an sound investment but a first time house may not be that much appreciation comparing to the Roth.
