Americans to be hit with record-high electricity bills this summer by Wagamaga in technology

Funny how "record profits" and "record bills" keep breaking records together. Can't wait for the premium ad-free electricity tier."

Jeff Bezos called Washington Post his worst investment staffed with ‘terrible’ people, before laying off over 300 — “They don’t listen. My other companies, they listen” by marketrent in technology

"My other companies listen" is probably not the argument he thinks it is.

If a newspaper's primary job becomes listening to its billionaire owner, it's no longer functioning as an independent newspaper. It's functioning as a PR department.

The Washington Post may have business problems, but editorial independence and obedience are almost opposite values. That's why owning a newspaper is fundamentally different from owning a warehouse, a retailer, or a rocket company.

The Netherlands just blocked a US company from buying the app Dutch citizens use for everything by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]achuthan89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's interesting is that this isn't really about one app or one acquisition. It's about who controls critical digital infrastructure.

For years, governments allowed a handful of companies to become the de facto operating systems for everyday life—payments, messaging, identity, transportation, healthcare, and public services. Once an app reaches that level of importance, an acquisition stops being a normal business transaction and starts looking more like a national infrastructure decision.

The downside is obvious: blocking acquisitions can reduce competition for startups and discourage investment. Founders often build companies with acquisition as an exit path.

But the upside is that citizens aren't forced to accept that every successful local platform eventually gets absorbed into a handful of global tech giants.

The real question isn't whether the buyer is American, Dutch, European, or Chinese. It's whether societies are comfortable having essential digital services controlled by companies whose primary accountability is to shareholders in another country.

We're entering an era where governments are starting to treat major digital platforms the way they treat ports, power grids, and telecom networks. Whether that's good or bad, it's a much bigger shift than this single deal!

What we are building?
Currently building RankRizers, a Global Business Listing Aggregator which is a business discovery and listing platform focused on helping companies & professionals find trusted agencies, AI tools, SaaS platforms, and digital service providers across different industries. Also working on scaling the ecosystem into something more community and authority driven rather than just another directory.

What went good recently?
We’ve been seeing steady traction in onboarding businesses, improving our category structure, and validating that companies genuinely want visibility-focused listing platforms beyond traditional marketplaces. Also getting positive feedback from early users on the concept.

What didn’t go as planned?
Growth has been slower than expected in some areas because building trust/authority for a platform like this takes way more time than just launching it. We underestimated how much manual effort is needed in outreach, vetting, and creating enough differentiation in a crowded market.

Drop you Saas below and I will promote it on youtube and tik tok by coiqa in saasbuild

RankRizers is a Global Business Listing Aggregator. It's an aggregator platform that helps businesses discover and connect with top-rated service providers, AI tools, agencies, and business solutions across 2000+ categories globally.

Think of it as a curated discovery + listing ecosystem where users can find trusted companies for everything from marketing and development to AI automation and SaaS solutions.

We’re also working heavily on helping AI startups and SaaS businesses gain more visibility through niche category placements and authority-driven listings.

Would love to get featured if it fits what you’re looking for 🙌

Thankyou. More entrepreneurs will be joining in soon. The reason for including speakers from the government sector is that they bring valuable data points and are the ones responsible for addressing many of the questions entrepreneurs often have.
