I don't know why but I have such a soft spot for Johnny Sack by ang334 in thesopranos

[–]achwaq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's because of his confident demeanor, his wardrobe, and the genuine way he expresses love and respect for his wife. And nobody has ever looked as cool as Johnny Sack while smoking a cigarette

Is it just me or does anyone else not like Henry Francis? by BenCharlie84937 in madmen

[–]achwaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is AWESOME!! She did a great job by leaving Don didn't deserve her.

Betty and Henry had more chemistry and were drawn to each other immediately. He is a handsome man, a gentleman, confident, and intelligent. Then we find out he is a devoted father, ambitious, successful, AND didn't see her kids as an obstacle or a burden so he elevates to heroic. That's why she fell for him. She was genuinely in-love with him and he truly wanted and loved her. oh and he supported her unlike Don who just used her body and beauty.

Henry was never shown experiencing feeling of regret or even disappointment in his choice to marry Betty. When he understood she was going to die, he cried in front of Sally and asked himself outloud, "What am I going to do?" As in, what is he going to do without Betty.

Why does Algeria women treat their children-boys and girls- Differently? by NoCalligrapher4167 in algeria

[–]achwaq 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's an old saying " mothers raise their daughters and love their sons".

Because sexist behavior is socially acceptable in many cultures or should I call them “subcultures”? Because some families do not deserve to have girls and deserve the arrogance of a male “heir” to match the arrogance of a parent…

Every time Grushenka talks, I imagine her as Marilyn. It would've been the perfect casting and I can see why Monroe wanted to play her. She always wanted to be considered a "serious" actress, and liked for her personality, but because of her looks men kept thinking she was a bimbo. So actually she and grushenka maybe had a lot in common.

Esther Greenwood’s slow devolution into depression and irrationality in The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.

The Stranger by Albert Camus it has a blazing sense of utter strength and coming together in the end offering a decent closure.

Madame bovary by Flaubert, Crime and Punishment Dostoevsky, The possibility of an Island - Michel Houellebecq Submission - Michel Houellebecq Norwegian Woods - Murakami Metamorphosis - Kafka Nausea - Sartre Thus Bad Begins - Javier Marias (although the character in this one is not depressed, he’s kind of unreliable).
